Originality is a mark I sort of just don't like. It's very nondescript.

In actuality, for instance, people have frequently (as I like to say) accused me of being original, whereas I'm not so much original as just faithful to my own interests. If my interests were to lie in an unoriginal direction, that wouldn't really stop me.

Anyway, if you can't be objective, you can at least try.
If you can't be original though, do yourself a favour and don't try. Being able to follow your intentions in spite of others' views is the only way to stay true to your creativity, which is sometimes achieved by the exact reverse of what is often (mistakenly) called originality.

anyway I don't think originality has to do with the objectivity (ie the object itself) rather subjectivity (the subject of the environment around it... ie your video). I say this because people smarter than me tend to suggest that things such as passing the ball is original. It's what your supposed to do. Playing the basetone on the piano is original, it's what your supposed to do. Useing turn signals in your car is original, it's what your supposed to do. Stuff like Otohiko's sub project is original not just because it's unique but because it represents a good direction to go. Something like Trythil's (no offense to Trythil or AD or whoever) moving pic would get like a 6 from me, not because it's not ORIGINAL at all, anything that's created is somewhat original, but because it makes no damned sense!! Again I ask why have a score that is pointless in the larger view of things?

exactly, I never liked originality either, but I love to abuse it cuz it gives me an arguement (I also love to question it so go ahead and question me if you like, I question myself many times)
