How do you find quality amvs?
I'm definitely not what I would call "in touch" with the amv community, so I'm wondering what is the most reliable way to find quality videos. I've tried using the top 10% scale, I've tried looking at the star count, or the number of ops, but none of these seem to be that reliable for finding quality videos. I've looked at contest winners (usually fairly good, but not that many great action videos) and I know a few creators I really like, but I'm wondering if there is some way that other people use that I'm not aware of. Do you generally watch amvs only from people you know or is there a way you find quality videos from unknown creators?
I'm looking for mainly action vids, preferabbly not completely effect-ridden and with some semblance of a point, but even pointless action will do. But it just seems like I've been dl'ing so many really bad amvs that I'm getting discouraged. Anyway, just wondering.

I've gotten to the point that I basically just go off of the Video Announcements forum, even liklier if I know the creator's previous work and enjoyed those.
When I first joined nearly 3 years ago, I just browsed around for song/anime combinations I wanted to see, or either the song or anime seperately. For the most part, videos in MPEG-1/2, AVI, or MKV will be better quality (editing-wise, and possibly compression-wise) than the mounds of WMVs. That's not to say that there aren't good videos that were released in WMV, but the number of those are drastically small.

The <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... ecommended AMV forum may be useful, specifically this thread.
Good luck finding an action video not completely effect ridden. I'm not sure that exists anymore.

Hey, I was gonna make thread like this. I'm having trouble finding good amvs as well. I'm just left browsing the amv annoucement forum for older threads, and stalking peoples profiles for there top 10 vids. Which can be annoying at times, cause people constantly mention the same vids over and over.
The opinion exchange forum is a bit of mess. People not putting direct links to the vids, and even recomending the same vid twice in a thread.

Re: How do you find quality amvs?
You guys aren't bad, some quality vids. Appetite for Dynamite was a good vid. I like Fluxmeister a lot (who doesn't) and I loved Eric from Otaku Vengenace when he was around. Other than that I haven't seen a whole lot of creators that really do much for me. Any other recommendations?Beowulf wrote:www.hypeodermicstudios.com
I was also going to ask another question, thought about posting another thread but I guess I could ask it here. I'm thinking about entering my newest amv in some contests, but I really have no idea what "contest quality" is. Do you need a really AMAZING video to enter contests or are there lots of entries but only the really amazing win? I mean I feel like a lot of the videos I watch are not that stellar but they get a lot of fanfare, so I'm unsure whether it's pointless or worthwhile to enter some contests. It's not a big deal if I win or not, but it would be cool to get a video shown somewhere.
