looking for software

Post by Bebop0083 » Mon Jun 20, 2005 8:06 pm

im looking into to buying some new software. one is Sony Vegas 5 or 6 with DVD and im also looking for After Effects 6.5 professional. i dont want any links to oem software or downloadable software as well as Academic software. ive been all over the net trying to search for some thing. it seems like every time i search for them im always getting oem or academic crap. the most im willing to spend for After Effects would be 250 to $300. (if they can be found at those prices) and as for Vegas around the same price. ive tried searches at google as well pricegrabber and no such luck. well help is appreciated.

No, it generally can't. Except for academic and OEM versions. :P

And by the way, Adobe After Effects is meant primarily for effects work and compositing and whatnot, not to be a non-linear editor like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere. It's possible to edit a video entirely in After Effects, but I've heard it's not pleasant.

Just out of curiousity, what's wrong with the academic versions? Don't they have everything the regular version does? I thought it was just a price difference.

They have everything. You're right about the price difference.

Sony has a competitive upgrade deal: $300 for Vegas 6 if you have an eligible program.

For a little more, B&H has a nice package deal for $380:
