teach me the way of the anime

Post by The_Collection » Mon Jun 20, 2005 11:09 pm

i spent most of my time trieing to gain anime and less time learning from it. there has always been that one thing that confused me. that sweatdrop thing that is commonly shown in anime. i never understund what that was. i'v been a huge anime fan for years now. but i was to ashamed to amit i didnt know what that sweatdrop was for. im finally ready to say that i dont know everything about anime. if you know me, thats a big step for me. just in case your wondering, i still know more about anime then you.

A sweatdrop is a sign of embarassment - usually as a reaction to something that another character has said.

People sweat when they get nervous... and getting nervous is a lot of what happens when you are embarrassed. :P

There are two books that are really good guides for the common things and the more obscure things of Japanese culture that you will see in anime. They are The Anime Companion and The Anime Companion II. I really recommend these books as they are not only a good guide to explaining some of the more common things that you will see, but they are interesting reads in general.

But no one who has common sense NEEDS a book to explain the basics of human reactions in anime form, but I presume bob only owns them because, as he/she said, they are interesting.

I own them because Giles demanded my money, and so I gave in.
