Video Instructions?

Brand-new kiddo right here.

Here's my question. What I'd really like to have is detailed methods of how to make AMVs. It's something I've never tried before, but I have a lot of good ideas.

If anyone could post detailed instructions on how to rip DVDs and videogames (primarily of the FF series) or point me towards threads that do that very thing, it would be most appreciated. I mean REALLY detailed, though - a walkthrough is basically what I'm after here.

Anything at all, websites, threads here, or help anyone could offer would be sincerely appreciated! I'm equipped with the following: HP Pavilion laptop, VCR, DVD Player, HP Photosmart 318 Digital Camera, and PS2, if that helps.
