What REALLY irks me is when people either don't do a search or blatantly ignore the fact they're remaking a vid.
Case in point, one of my vids now has a "double" on the org. I downloaded it, hoping for the best, fearing the worst, and while the cuts were different, most of the scenes were still the same! Same song, same anime, same scenes. Difference in time between my video and theirs? Two years. No one can argue my video was first.
Is it possible this person was as inspired as I was? Certainly. However, I *always* check my ideas before I implement them, precisely because anime music video culture is not the same is when I started, so I have to be careful someone I don't know may have already done what it is I've done.
Honestly, I don't have any legal or ethical ground to stand on for feeling upset by this, but I do. Anyone else feel I'm justified in my offendedness?
Are you afraid of people "stealing" your ideas?

Well, with as many "on the backburner" projects as I have, It's usually not a problem for me to just come out and say "I plan on doing ______ set to ______" - because it usually won't get finished, anyway. Seriously, I'm currently "working" on about 12 different videos.
Nevertheless, sometimes I'll check to see if a vid's been done, and it's not there. Then maybe a month later, it is. Minor annoyance, but more often than not I still wanna do it anyway.
Simply put, if you want to get better at making AMVs…you have to make AMVs.
Although, I've only got 2 up, and I still think they suck - but that's just me being a perfectionist with low self-esteem. I've been getting a lot of practice in, though, with all of those unfinished and restarted projects. ^^;

Well...for someone like me who wants to make a really good AMV on the first go it is a little hard when you put your ideas out. The first AMV I wanted to do was a Fruits Basket to Spinin' Around by Jump5, but someone had already done one like it. Even now that I finally have my idea and NO ONE else has even used the song, I'm really nervous that someone will release one to this song (and in the same AMV style) before I can get mine finished and out. That's the reason why I don't say what I'm doing when I ask for opinions in the forums. (I don't ask that often anyway)
