New Forum Suggestion (Category Lists)

This would be a forum that operated much like the Recommended AMVs forum. Topics could only be created by mods. Posters would be encouraged to have and edit only one reply under each topic. A difference would be that posters could list their own projects as long as they fit the topic.

The purpose would be for the users to generate AMV lists that can't be derived from a database search. For example, a list of AMVs that use music from the Eighties or a list of AMVs that use the piano key effect.

Other examples:

Good

AMVs that have French lyrics
AMVs that use tv commercial music
AMVs that use country (or electronic, etc.) music

Bad

AMVs with music by Linkin Park (already available by searching)
AMVs that use instrumental music (this might be too broad a category)
AMVs with songs sung by Fish (this might be too narrow a category)

Interesting idea. I approve. I think it would be cool to pool the results of these threads, however, into a categorized list that can be accessed directly from the main page or search page. I think that, if this works well, the threads will grow too long or cluttered to be of any practical use for searching.

At the least, it could help with the issue of organizing videos by genre. The problem there is that we're leaving the choice up to the creator, and the creator isn't always sure what genre the song he used is.

After sleeping on this, I'm not so sure it's a good idea. Although the emphasis is different ("list any" instead of "list the best"), in practice it may be no different than the Recommended AMVs forum. In which case, why duplicate the effort? Especially since the Recommended AMVs forum does not get much traffic in terms of people posting AMV titles.

So...I don't know...it might work.

I don't know about anyone else but the reason I don't put things in the recommendation forum is that it is for the BEST not just good and I don't feel like trying to figure out stuff like if IWIWAL or Right Now is the very best comedy. I'd rather just see the current recommendation forum be a place to list good videos rather than the very best so I could mention both videos since they both are very good.
