Slight shounen-ai. The OVA has a harder scene, and I can't speak for the manga, but the series is tame. Quite a bit of kissing. Everything else is offscreen. Like scattered clothes implying something, but it keeps a firm hold on its 13+ rating throughout. ...oh, well, some alcohol use, a little swearing IIRC, some veiled references to sexual assault, and one of the leads is a chainsmoker. But as for the porn, there isn't any.Yorae wrote:I've never seen the show, so I'd appreciate some info on it. Like, is it hard core yaoi or slight shounen ai?
It's essentially the story of a kid who wants to be a pop star, and all the things that pop up around that. They have to scramble to get media attention, his friend tries to quit the band, he gets writer's block, he winds up being a rival to a band he idolized as a kid, another band gets jealous of their success and tries to blackmail them, yadda yadda. And the major sidestory is this romance with Mr. Angstbucket.
It's comedy (the lead defines "genki") / drama (CAN he keep up a successful career and keep hold of the person he loves?! tune in next week!).
So, that's some info.

NO WAY. Gravitation is an attempt at a band anime, but to me, it falls straight on its face. ONE, as explained to me by my dear M-chan, the relatsionship between the blonde guy and the girl (it's a freakin' girl, plain and simple) is completley fake.
Y'see, he happens to get turned on by the fact that the girl cries. So blondie promptly romps the girl. Girl is happy, but then blondie says something mean to him. Thus, Girl cries. And blondie feels horny, romps, etc, etc, etc. Notice that they never have sex for fun, it's usually when the Girl is angsty.
Two, while the songs are spiffy, it lacks in a LOT of the drama department. I was going through torture throughout this anime. And the comedy was WAY too obvious. *frown* If you want a shonen-ai with a PLOT, then watch something else. I don't know any Anime, but I know a TON of manga that's better:
FAKE, Eerie Queerie (aka Ghost), Only The Ring Finger Knows, Yami no Matsuei, and stuff like that. *nodnod*

Dude, it's a comedy. Complaining that there isn't enough angst is like complaining that your cereal doesn't have enough hot peppers in it. This indicates that you have bizarre expectations, and doesn't mean that the show is inferior.
If, on the other hand, you think it fails as a comedy, you have a case. As it stands, you really don't - just a bunch of whining that suggests you have a vendetta FAR beyond the mere watching of a show.
In short, unclench. Just because you didn't read the box before you watched it doesn't mean the show is bad. That's your fault.

It defintely fails as a comedy and as a good show. Overall, it was pretty much just fanservice.
What pisses me off is that I know, I'd even bet on it, is that if Girl was actually a chick, a lot of fangirls would be like "Eeeew!! She's that disgusting clingy type of girl, this show sucks!"
