HELP!! Having Problem with adobe premeire 6.0

I am having trouble getting adobe to read certain video files, because of the codec. i use avi files 2 types.. divx codec 4.02(these work) and Xvid Mpeg-4 codec (these wont work) When i put them on the time line i get either straight black preveiw or i get straight black with a little x at the left top ... can anyone tell me how to get adobe to read this type of file i have the correct codec but its like the adobe time line is not using the codec when i open the file it reads and when i use the little box in the project window it also works not on the timeline tho...can anyone help me??

Lossy codec suport is flakey at best on premier 6. Have a read of this

well i just got adobe pro and they still wont read,,.,,,,.,.,.,
