I got an email from this site telling me I had a new private message and linking me to my inbox.

I did not actually get one.

I don't have a full inbox, so I thought maybe this is a bug? Just posting about it anyway...

The sender probably deleted the message from his Outbox before you opened your Inbox. You can edit PMs until the recipient reads them.
