REFUSAL TO SELLOUT GOOD VIDEO BAD SONG

Post by danarchking777 » Thu Jun 02, 2005 4:45 am

yea, im writing this because im sick of watching amv's with extreamly good visual quality,fx,sync, and good anime....WITH HORRIBLE SONGS THAT I WOULD ONLY USE TO TORTURE PEOPLE! yea i know everyone will just say its just a matter of "taste" but COME ON! i listen to a very broad genre of music: hip hop, heavy metal, classic rock, ska, punk, alternative, techno and dance, rap-rock,classical,modern rock, hardcore, oldies, 80's, r & b so genre and music style isnt an issue here.

the issue is i go to the top 10% videos of all time, and i end up watching these wonderfully produced, visually stunning, awsome looking videos....with the worst music i have ever herd.i pushed the mute button just to watch a few. did the editors think "whats the most obscure song i can find?"i dunno.i dont even go to the top vids anymore. i totaly refuse to sellout and use the same technique in my own amvs just to get a high score. i mean ,yea, your video has: 10,000 overlays- 20 people lip syncing each to a different word in the song all at one time - special effects thats gonna put universal studios out of buisness - every anime
since 1979 - you even have a tiger that jumps out of the screen in 3D and scratches my face! BUT SO WHAT THE SONG SUX.

to me the song is 50% of the experiance.i dunno mabe im alone in this.

(i didnt know where to put this topic, so i put it in GENERAL)

Sounds like you just hate popular music in general. Watch some of my vids with obscure music. I can pretty much guarantee you'd like.

dude if that music on the top 10% of all time is popular....i dont know what to think or how to repond to that. i thought popular was whats on the radio? but just because a song is pop or obscure does'nt make it good or appropiate amv use.

Well, yes and no... it's not popular on the radio, but obviously everyone on the site likes it. Hence, it's popular.

Whoa, renovation!

Let me see if I'm understanding you correctly...you absolutely REFUSE to use music that you hate in your own AMVs? Brilliant! BRILLIANT! I mean, all those editors in the top 10% must've gotten there by using music that they, themselves, despise...I can't even imagine how well you'll do by using music that you actually LOVE! After all, it couldn't be that the editors making those videos ACTUALLY LIKED THE SONGS THEY USED, COULD IT?!

BRILLIANT!!!

To spell it out: that was sarcasm flying right over your head.

Also, I'm sorry to hear that you think that a lot of songs "sux", but hey, oh well. Clearly, the editors of those popular videos don't share your opinion.

If you want to change that, make a video with a "good" song. I'm sure you know how to do this.

I like to renovate the heads of people who have no use for a dictionary, even if your chosen word applies in some offhand UNINTENDED WAY. Regarding the matter, vids do get often overrated and underrated based on the audio almost exclusively. Our good friend, danarchking777, seems to be one of those people. As for the sarcasm, it's good to leave it in the hands of others. Idealogical concepts don't come with CAUTION: HOT! labels. So SUE me.

Excuse me?

I was implying that his idea was a renovation to the AMV-making process. If one were to take danarchking77's post at face value, it would seem that the key ingredient to successful AMV creation would be to use a song that one despised. His idea was to use a song that one actually enjoyed; a song that wouldn't "TORTURE PEOPLE."

If you still don't understand what I was getting at, a definition of "renovation" can be found here.
