Constant footage pixellation?

Post by Taruto! » Sun May 22, 2005 10:55 am

I dunno if anyone else has ever asked about this problem, but when I've been ripping in DVD2AVI there's always a problem with interlacing - so I've been using DVD2DIVX instead.

However, DVD2DIVX, while it's a great program for smaller ripping sizes (352x240 etc), it loses quality like mad when you resize it. It's almost as if it just resizes the clip from 352x240 or whatever and it gives the footage really jaggy lines.

I've been trying to rip Steel Angel Kurumi at high quality, and when ripping the opening on 2 different sizes, here are the results:
352x240
640x480

Does anyone have any information about this?
Even information on how to stop interlacing on DVD2AVI would be helpful, since I'm willing to use either ripper. :?

Thanks in advance.

The interlacing is supposed to be there, because DVD2AVI doesn't do that sort of processing. (Well, it does in a way, but you'd better know a lot about your footage if you ever hope to get anything useful out of Force FILM.)

Usage of AVISynth and its various inverse telecining/deinterlacing filters is one way, and arguably the best way, to handle it. This topic is covered in depth in the article at http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... ogetb.html.
