Who gets more attention?

I have created several op exchange threads and have found that some people get lots of responces while others, like myself, don't always get as much attention. Theirfore I was wondering what it is that makes people respond to a opinion exchange thread. Is it because of the creator or because people ask for exchanges on their vid on more then one occasion?

Consider the quality (or fan-suck-up-a-tude in most cases) of your videos and ask that again.

(that being said, his comments are usually true... just mean.)

Anyways, I don't think there is as much favoritisim as you may belive. First of all people are lazy, so free op threads get a ton more hits than exchange threads.

Then you have a few creators who are known for giving out legthy ops, or for giving out many ops (and therefore having a lot of experience to draw from for comparisons) such as Madbunny, Bakadeshi, The Critic, etc. (If you are curious, check the most useful and most oppinionated lists.)

Most of the really well known creators have plenty of ops already (the op exchange is very much a tool for the masses) and if they want GOOD feedback they go to their friends.

When you factor that all in there really isn't much of a diference in replys based on creator.

Seeking attention isn't the key; it's seeking right kinds of opinions. I was pretty embarassed at my "Detailed, functional" op exchange thread at the beginning, because it was attracting more attention in the shape of "WTF?" questions about my massive list of 'rules' and suggestions.
And then a few days later I got 3 takers - you might say only three, but those were among the very best (in the sense of detail, not scores) ops I'd received to date.

What makes people respond to op exchange threads is the premise of the exchange - what kinds of ops they want to get and are willing to write.

And if your own threads don't work, go and swap some in other people's threads. That can work too.

(as for me, I honestly wish I was willing to write any ops or even op responses at the moment, but my critical AMV viewing ability is gone so completely right now that it's almost as though it was never there...)

Some of my threads get more replies than others. I have made three free ops threads. The first one was a general one with only a few restrictions- no Linkin Park or Evanescence and no highly overrated animes. That one got A LOT of replies. But the other two were much more specific. One of them was for CLAMP AMVs, so only series by CLAMP counted. The other one was for old school AMVs- meaning AMVs made with anime produced before 1990 EXCEPT for DB/Z/GT and Rumiko Takahashi stuff. The final one got very very few ones, since most of the old stuff IS about Toriyama or Takahashi anime.

A variety of things might be involved. One is what rules, if any, you set. The more series you refuse to op the less response you're going to get. Another is your average given score. I'm pretty sure there are some who just want to make the top 10% so they only exchange with people who's average given is above 9. OTOH people looking for honest constructive opinions aren't going to want to exchange with someone who has a very high average given or a low word count. Your own video also can make a difference, someone who doesn't like LinkenballZ won't respond to an op exchange for a LBZ video for example. Past ops can matter, I know of some users I wouldn't exchange with just because I've seen their opinions and don't think they're useful. Also sometimes there just aren't as many videos released as other times so there's not as much a demand in op exchanges.

The only really important thing for me is the "average usefulness"... although that can be deceiving since some people like to leave ops that say "THAT WAS AWESOME" 500 times in a row.
