I'v done it now...

Post by Valgaav » Sun May 15, 2005 2:32 pm

I think all those codecs I downloaded tryint o fix my AVI problem is screwing my audio. When something plays, most of the time the music sounds like it's fading. Other times, when I play videos, it fuzzes for a nanosecond, then plays.

How do I reset my codecs? My PC will NEVER play an AVI anyway.

if youre using windows, go to control panel/system/hardware/device manager/sound, video, game controllers/video codecs. double click, choose properties tab. from there should see a list of codecs you can remove.

if you uninstall a codec, and the problem goes away, then it's probably that codec.

Ic ould ruin the computer by doing that; if I remove something vital, it was all for nothing!

Here is every codec it lists in order:

- imaadp32.acm
- msadp32.acm
- msg711.acm
- msgsm32.acm
- tssoft32.acm
- msg723.acm
- Windows Media Audio Codec
- Sipro Lab Telecom Audio Codec
- Indeo audio software
- Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec
- ff_acm.acm
- Microsoft PCM Converter

Now what goes & what stays?

those are audio codecs. did you install new audio codecs?
find your video codecs and try uninstalling them first.

ffdshow seems like it's the only one that wouldn't come with your computer. it shouldn't mess up your playback, but you can try uninstalling that to see if it solves the problem.
