Actually, AD had a defense for that.
"If you send someone a song, you're helping influence their creativity. If you send a movie, then you're just ripping off the company."
I won't even coughcough while i say it:

Okay...I've sat here pondering at this thread and I wonder...
Will you still be griping over the chat, even if things sway your way? What if all you're going to do is just re-enter the chat and continue to test the rules and the leniancy of the mods by constantly making yourself an imediment to the community? Obviously you must of made yourself quite an unwanted spectacle if you were perm-banned (if that's the case) from the chat.
Yes respect is earned, not given, but why do you feel the mods of the IRC need to earn respect from you when they don't need, nor want it? The IRC chat is no place to earn or give respect, and disrespect won't be tolerated, it's just simply an extention of the forums, cept the chat allows for off topic discussion.
Instead of locking, they kick you. Depending on the intentions, extent, or repetitions of such offences, you can and/or will be removed from the chat on a more perminent basis (with possibility of such bans to be revoked). To choose to circumvent this ban is to choose destroy what chances you might have to be "allowed" back in.
Now even I don't like how some things are handled in the IRC. There are some things said and done that I think shouldn't be present in the chat. Often there can be 5 mods in there at a time and all of them are idle. They don't catch everything, and with the rate of discussion in a chatroom, such offenses can be lost rather quickly in the mess and never seen. If a person or people get on a touchy subject and those individuals go too far out of the bounds of the rules set for the chat, inform the mods and they'll look into it. Whether or not something is done is up to them.
Kicking and screaming about getting in trouble for something you've seen someone else do and get away with isn't gonna work. You need to be a narc and get them in trouble as well, you need to give out names, ip addresses, home addresses (not really, though for some it has been effective
), chat transcripts (unaltered), and other known aliases. If you didn't like getting kicked/banned for something, surely the other offenders won't either. Doing such might actually make it seem like you have concern for the chat rules, whether you actually do or not.
DON'T ATTACK THE MODS about getting in trouble, attack the people by using the mods, cause they are the only ones with REAL power, not some angery forum posters who have too few people that'll side with them to convince the mob otherwise.

no its mr bucket, the first one to get the their balls out of my pocket wins.
steak , well put . although i dont think its just about swaying things one persons way. Those that just continue to be assnuggets and constantly doing shit should be dealt with. just as the people who come in the aim room , if they start acting a fool , they get booted. and yes , its pretty much a crawling "off topic". and rules of respect should apply. when you enter the room you dont demand respect before you get it. you agreed to be respectful by entering just by knowin those are the rules. i acted like an ass in there when it started up and got banned , and after several ban evasive bullshit routines, i dropped the bullshit and kinda rose above it. Once you realize there are gonna be people you dont like everywhere you go that have a spot of power and rules for their space , the more you will make your own. Im op'd in like 13 diff rooms in absolute.irc.net and now i have to deal with people like i used to be LOL so all i think they want is people to behave in thier space . as you would yours. dont tell me you would tolerate this shit.. that is the rest of my 2 cents , sorry i dropped the other penny when i was pulling out my lighter.

A: Got a perm-ban for making fun of a newb, but AD doesn't like me because i'm loud, random and I joke around "weird" (subjective word) shit.
B: Never said I wanted my way. Was just stating the fact that I figured they should lighten up. Never thought it'd be taken seriously. This is just gettin' shit off my chest.
C: I really wonder if you were reading the same thread. I never said I wanted to give/receieve/shit on/make/give birth to/eat respect. Your argument is null and void.
D: I went in to prove a point. That by joking around and taking nothing seriously, yet sitll respecting the majority of the rules (It took a LOT of effort to not swear in that room), i still was booted for a minor infraction and banned cuz o'it.
E: I honestly wonder if you were reading this thread at all. It's like you weren't paying attention or something. Please, re-read, re-evauluate, and then please, staple your hands to your desk if you can't say something constructive.'
*NOTE: that was not a threat, or anything derogetory. That was a SUGGESTION to the kinda folk to keep from empty posting or just going off topic about random madness*

Unfortunately I'll never lighten up enough that I'll let people flame other people needlessly in the IRC chat room. It's not going to happen.
As for why you were banned, I'd say constantly annoying people day after day and me receiving complaints about you would do it. Sure it's not as clear cut as flaming but it was technically spamming, even if you were trying to do this in a conversational way. The complaints of the other members justified our decision. You were warned by the ops but ignored the warnings, so you were banned.
Now the other things you mention, the hypocrisies, let's talk about those.
You noted that we're strict on things like downloaded anime and warez but not strict on music. Originally we were strict on everything but I removed music from the list so that we could turn a blind eye to people who wanted to share the song they were listening to, particularly because it can be useful for amv ideas. I figured it was an exception that, while not the same as the site policies, would be accepted inteh chat room. If you'd prefer us to be more consistent and just ban all illegal file transfer links and so on then we can do that but don't attack us for being strict about the rules when we're actually trying to be flexible.
