..... Do not give ideas. Please we are already a demented enough community. Of course there is always the silly amndatory ingredient in AMV Iron chef competitions. *evil snicker*
As far as what the contest showings are up against I do have that information but I would need approval from my higher ups as the schedule to the best of my knowledge has not gone public.
As far as it being moved out of main, yes it sucks considering that main showing is probably going to fill quickly. And thing is after the rooms being used this year I don't think we have a whole lot larger availiable except going into the ballrooms used for the largest panels.
But if the room is massively packed again this year consistently enough it would be good grounds to try and get it in main programming. That is the best that can be done.
Sorry about this and I apologize for it happening the last minute.

Maybe this move isn't so bad. At least in the AMV room, you have a slightly higher chance of having quality equipment...I still remember ACen 2003's contest (which was held in Main Programming) pretty well, because it taught me what a ground loop looked like in video. Not pretty.
None of it was really the fault of any staff, but the A/V equipment just wasn't up to it, and I don't think anyone had time to test the setup before putting on the contest...

Oh you should have heard the masquerade that year. The audio that year left a lot to be desired. So it wasn't just the video problems to contend with.
And yeah a lot of cons do forget the need to test amv's before the event. Simply to ensure the output is correct and also audio levels are much different for music as opposed to simple spoken voice used over microphones.
But yes the lack of equipment errors may prove a huge benefit. The main issue I think to be contended with is simply size. And the fire marshals in the past few years have been particularly stringent on large events such as Acen.

Actually, last year's into had sailor bubba, and while searching Quu's archive I came across a hentai amv with man-faye, which we WILL be showing at the Too Hot For Acen segment. Actually there are loads of hentai videos on here, which is good. still not enough to fill 2 hours of time though... course this isn't counting the stuff we got from you guys per Outlaws requests for stuff.godix wrote:Are you really so eager to see Man-Faye or Sailor Bubba being used in AMVs?Castor Troy wrote:One day we will take over the cosplayers..... one day.

I will also say this right now. Now the schedule shows the contest starting at noon and running until 3, this is still true, We will end the block of videos beng shown about 30 minutes before the contest, clear the room and at about 10 minutes till start letting people in. this means that if you want to see your video GET THERE EARLY. I wanted to implement a badge system for the creators but there isn't enough time to do it this year (next year it's something to look into to guarentee creators a spot)
if you are a creator and want a seat, please, I cannot stress this enough, GET THERE EARLY. 30 minutes before the contest, before we clear the room is the best time. we will be doing line control and people leaving the room will be instructed to go to the END OF THE LINE.
Since I have a list of all the creators I can proably start letting people in early, but this would only apply to the creators themselves and they must have ID (drivers license, or badge with thier real name printed on it) and have a video in the contest to get access. This will be sloppy seating because the problem just arose and it's about the best I can do given the time, as well as everything else I have blowing up in my face at the moment. (please try and remember, this isn't the only last minute issue I have to deal with. plus I have school and work too, so I'm trying my best)
One more thing. I understand how some of your (well mostly DWChang) are probably angry about the last minute move. But unfortunatly that's the price I had to agree to to get our own room. If the time was available, I can use main programming, but if a major need arises for the room, we get the boot. Is it unfair? Yes a little, but at the same time I already knew this could happen when I agreed to the room, which, in my opinion is still a damn good thing. I can talk to people about perhaps next year getting a biger room for us.

No no, I didn't change the times for any of the events, this is the first showing of the amv contest. Origianlly it was Friday at noon in main programming, the only thing that changed was where it was being shown. Now it's Friday at noon in the amv room, everything else is stillt he sameAtomX wrote:.... Wait... it's a NOON now?.... And I'm presuming this is on Saturday..
