studios and amvers

Post by someGen » Wed May 04, 2005 10:00 am

I have some question and i would like you to clarify them to me.

1-What is the exact number of studios and their names.
2-how do you join a studio, do they have a entrance test.
3-how can you tell when an amver is talented?, give examples!!
4-is it possible to develop talent that you dont have, out of nothing.
5-wich is the best studio thats available now, are they accpeting new members.

thanks .

1.) There aren't any stats (that I'm aware of) for the exact number of studios. There are hundreds of them, if not into the thousands by now. You can find the complete list by going to "Edit My Profile" and clicking the drop-down menu under "Studio".

2.) Most of the multi-editor studios were formed by groups of friends. Some studios do recruit, but there isn't usually a formal "test", so to speak. They'll usually evaluate your videos and make a decision that way.

3.) Talent is a very subjective thing. You can generally tell if the editor is well-received by their opinion/star scores, although inflation certainly exists in the former.

4.) This is a gray area. You can't confuse talent with skill. I tend to view talent as an innate ability, while skill is a mastery of a certain art. You can most certainly develop skill; just look at most any experienced editor's profile - you'll often see a marked progression with time.

5.) There is no definitive "best" studio (although those tricky RDS and BSP folks will tell you otherwise :P ). There are many renowned multi-editor studios, such as Random Destination Studios, Blood Sugar Productions, Hypeodermic Studios, More Than Toast, Globocide, Arctic Tribe, etc. To my knowledge, none of them are actively recruiting, though you'd have to ask them yourself.

Some people seem to think that AMV Studios are similar to like "clans/guilds" in online games... Noooot quite. They're usually just a group of friends who make videos and do so under a common name. That's pretty much it.

Really the only question that you asked that can really have a definite answer is the first question. Everything else is subjective and based on opinion.

There still remains the option of forming a new production group yourself, of course.

Just say you're in RDS...they've got so many members they probably can't remember if you're actually in the studio or not :P
I have no idea how to use this new forum.
