I really don't care what people do, but I will try to answer the question objectively.
Fanservice, Humor, and vids with non-graphic parts of hentai I would think qualify as actual AMVs.
There is a video to Abracadabra with Miyuki-chan in Wonderland and it is actually an alright AMV. Of course from what I understand its not much of a hentai, but rather a slightly lude re-telling of Alice in Wonderland.
Graphic shots at random with a track thrown over qualifies as mini porn or a crappy AMV depending on how you look at it.
Are these vids plentiful or something? I tend to stick to the dark metal videos so I don't really know.

Personally I thought Moneyshot was pretty well executed as a whole. Yeah, it was a continuous sex-fest, but it stuck to the theme of the music quite well, and the editing itself was on par with most of what I've seen (MJ's work has certainly come a long way since his Superbeast and War Machine videos).

I suspect that it all devolves down to the editors ability to tell a story with the given mix of footage and music. It's like the difference between a character profile and a fight video. They will probably use mostly the same footage, but the execution is what makes the difference.
