Yeeesh, that long list of metal music is crazy. I have never heard of barnyard metal, but once again, I say that Metallica is the speed thrash metal that might have started it all. And the AMV's that people make out of Metallica's music, fits the songs exactly. I thank you all who made those AMV's. *kneels and bows down to Metallica*

That list is a joke. About 2/3 of it is fake genres.Granzon wrote:Yeeesh, that long list of metal music is crazy. I have never heard of barnyard metal
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Mostly, I listen to rock and metal. Mostly Nu-Metal. Others like Metallica, Trivium (aka the new Metallica), Disturbed, Sevendust, etc. There's also some good J-Metal and Arab Metal bands, too. I'm not kidding! Arabic metal exists!
I also like a little punk.

Be non-conformist! (Everyone's doing it!)

Primarily metal, especially prog and experimental stuff. Problem with prog now, is ninety percent of it is no longer progressing.
Sigh has more Progression than SYmphony X as an example..and Sigh aren't prog...but they are progressive
I'm also a huge fan of Jazz, Blues, Classical, and Post-rock (Sigur Ros, God Speed You! Black Emperor, etc..)
Anything that can challenge me musically and lyrically
Oh and I'm a bit of a Devin Townsend fanboy I'll admit.

I like most Rock, Metal mainly, but also Alternative and Punk. I also listen to some Instrumentals. My fav band would be Disturbed. But I also listen to a lot of J-Pop and J-Rock. I don't like rap/hip-hop very much, there are some songs that good but not very many.

Metallica didn't start it all, not in Thrash, not in Metal.Granzon wrote:Yeeesh, that long list of metal music is crazy. They are a huge influence on many bands, but they are most definitely not the be all end all.
Plus they suck now
As far as Thrash goes though, yes, they are a major influence on the sound, and on the Nu-metal sound as well. Alongside Megadeth, Pantera, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, etc..
Note, this next bit is IMO, but Dark ANgel, Celtic Frost, Death Angel and Megadeth have proven way better than the over-rated Metallica.
But none compare to the Almighty VoiVod
I fear the little people.

Queens of The Stone Age are commanding me to try out other Stoner Metal Bands. I also love Mark Lanegan.
I love prog-metal, prog-rock, and anything that is psychadelic and surreal; favorite bands are currently QOTSA, Mark Lanegan Band, Primus, etc...; the best genre, however, HAS to be jazz.

That man was gifted by God. Go listen to Bitches Brew. You can never hear that kind of music today.
