Video Color Quality

Post by -MajinLink- » Tue Apr 26, 2005 5:25 pm

After ripping one of my dvds with DVD Decrypter I noticed I lost alot of video color, it got much darker.

When I watch my DVD in PowerDVD.

When I rip my DVD and watch it.

Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to change the settings to get better color?

Try setting your Gamma higher (which brightens the colors without losing the basic color info).

There should be either an option or a plug-in with your editor that lets you do Gamma Correction (it depends on the editor you are using)

I hope this helps. :)

Power DVD, by default, has the brightness, contrast, and saturation cranked way high. The power dvd image you posted looks really ugly to me, the colors all washed out. The regular dvd colors could use some slight tweaking though. You can use the avisynth command Tweak() to adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation. I'd recommend bumping up the contrast and saturation just a tad.
