First, Adobe has announced that they are acquiring Macromedia.

This is a rather surprising move, and has many wondering what will happen to macromedia products now, as Adobe and Macromedia had some products that were direct competitors with one another.
Next, Adobe has announced that they are licensing rotoscoping technology from Curius Software.

Curius is often cited as having some of the best roto and video paint tools available, and poor roto has always been one of After Effect's main weaknesses. This is a very good thing for After Effects, I'm quite excited!
More news as it breaks. I'm personally hoping for an After Effects 7 announcement
