Preparing Footage.. You do it?

That's what I do.

If I had your amount of disk space I'd be in heaven. I have a 40 gigs, and only really about 15 gigs at the moment is open for videos (and I'm currently working on 2 videos, so there really isn't much of that left).

I just rip the vobs, get what clips I need with huffyuv, and delete the vobs.

If possible, I do all footage cleanup in pre-processing. It leads to better quality, but exporting the final product takes hours (days

). Also when you're working with tens of series, you may already lose your motivation before you have a single clip on the timeline.

True it can take forever to export depending on the amount of cleaning you perform x_x. The great thing about it though is that any filters you use that examine the footage won't be thrown off by fades and sudden cuts in the editing as they would with post-processing. Also, editing filters that rely on video properties such as keying out a color to make it transparent will work better since there is less noise in the video.

I understand.. It would be what I would do but.. Do you have any problem for Disk space? I have a 100GB of Hard Disk, and more than 50 are full because of programs, video and audio footage...!!

I've got a combined hard drive capacity of 320 GB (over 3 drives); I always edit with scripts and keep the VOBs, so no big ol' HuffYUV source clips for me.

I usually only IVTC beforehand, unless there's a specific problem that should be fixed (rainbowing, color balance, etc.). If it only requires general smoothing and cleaning, I'll usually save it for post-production.

I usually just rip and VOBs and clean them up in virtualdub and then frameserve them to premeire or after effects.

Oh, my total HDD is only 20Gigs. I have on average 8-10 to work with total for video editing....beat that.

Rip Dvds, deinterlace, make AVIs then clip into huffys

It's not the best, lose a bit of quality, but it works for me

On my new computer I have 140gb. The reason i've been out of editing for so long is because my old 16gb computer exploded (well nothing as grand really. Stuff just melted) but all the AMVs I've made so far except one have been made on that PC.

Roll on new AMV.

Oh, sorry to 2xpost but answering the question:

I pretty much leave everything to after the AMV has been edited except deinterlacing. That is if I'm using captured footage rather than ripped.
