Project K.C.T.R.T

Post by Michieru » Fri Apr 08, 2005 10:15 pm

Kunicon Cypher-Technologies Response Team.

This is a documentation of what I shall be doing for kunicon if you wish to add, remove or change this to make it better please let me know. I wrote this off the top of my head so it might contain errors.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Depending on hardware if it can be modified with different hardware and cleaned. If we really switch hardware.
Mac Mini for Anime Theater rooms
Mac Mini Price = $499 x2
Use Projectors (already from other cons)
Michieru would set them up and have a staff member keep an eye on equipment and report any trouble.

Game Rooms

DDR using the same hardware from Miami.
Game rooms can be put in a bigger room where it's more easy to move around still same old hardware from of Miami. Also latest games if possible.

When arriving on the convention first thing is to setup the theater and game rooms. On my watch I would do it in record time. Should take around a hour for all 3 game rooms. Staff would be in-charge of hardware and proper operation of each station available. If they wish to take a break they would need to contact another staff member to take there position and make sure they know what there doing.

Walkie talkies can be available to report any problems quickly to head of staff and to fix them quickly. While providing a backup for people to provide a transition while the repair of the old machine is being done.

During AMV contests either a DVD would be used to play back everything or instead using another machine (Mac Mini) and have me run it one by one. This should take as long as they need to play it would be a iMovie presentation or done with other software. Upon play There would be the name of the submitter and also the name of the AMV. Then once the AMV plays and ends. We move on to the next providing a detailed yet fun AMV contest. Prices could be changed to fit the average con goers needs. Prices can be a rock guitar from FLCL or other prices. Main price can be a complete computer system. Second price winner can win a FLCL signed rock guitar third prize winners can recieve a big Inuyasha plush doll or the character of there choice. This offers better management within the con for repairing problems and having a stable AMV contest. Also a few people who are not stage frighten to give intros during the AMV contest where manny himself would give a brief speech on how we doing and encourage the crowd to have a great time and to make some noise. Once the crowd does the music would slowly come up and the lights of the room dim. Once that's done a good trance beat or etc from a member for a couple of seconds and begin showing the AMV's. Also the kunicon bag needs to be changed(it's just a no no :P)

These are my objectives for kunicon atlanta

Fix overall kunicon management in providing a faster response to problems and make communication between the team more reliable.

Improve the AMV contest.

Give a better experience to the guests who come to the convention.

Provide faster alternatives and small quick response teams for different issues and sections regarding a problem with a con goer. Or any other issues.

Be a guest speaker from kunicon during the AMV contest where I be on stage and encouraging the crowd to start clapping and to enjoy themselves. Also keeping the room flowing and exciting.
____________________________________________________________________

Offer gaming tournaments and rated correctly.

Depending on games is what they win.

For DDR first prize winners a metal DDR pad.

Second prize winners can win a playstation with a DDR game of there choice.

Third prize winners can win a playstation DDR game.

Console games no tournament.

Tournament on multiplayer games. Like doom 3 and etc.

prizes I am not sure yet since the games would be played differ on the prizes.

DJ rooms can start at 11PM ending time varies. Music would be what the a-m-v.org forum users decided which would mostly be J-Pop, Metal, Trance, and a few other more Genres. There would be 2 seperate rooms playing 2 genres in each room. One would be Trance and J-Pop the other can be Metal with probably Punk. Still depends on the results I get from a-m-v.org

No fat chics in costumes hired by kunicon (a requirement)

Pool party can be available at certain times and also contests can be put.
Rules must be strict (no pulling wet suit strings from girls guys) (I mean that) Contests can be for swimming from one end of the pool to the other, volleyball can be available and offer more ideas from con goers. Foods and drinks are available also music would be available at the pool. Liqour is not allowed since mostly the people there would be of ages 18 and lower. If you need a drink take it to the room and keep it quite if you brought some girls over.

As for dealer rooms finding people who really know how to deal with this situation and have a understanding on this.

Photography : Can be a few photographers mainly for the cosplay and etc. If something is not set up absolutely nobody is allowed to enter the rooms what so ever.

We must also try to remain on schedule and keep the con flowing from friday until sunday.

Most of the stuff would take place the first and second day the third day everything would still be available until 8PM then we begin to close down.

After that we just pack up, leave back to miami and hope for the best of the fans.

DVD's the way to go, no ifs/ands/buts. Just double and triple check EVERYTHING beforehand (that the video is synced, that the DVD player doesn't skip, that the DVD isn't scratched, etc).

Why? Especially since the Atlanta AMV contest is gonna get so few entries because of the horrible reputation Kunicon has. There's absolutely no need to give out big expensive prizes. Spend that money on things like better equipment. You're trying to make up for lack of content with flash and it's not going to work. Also, prize has a Z in it.

You don't need people constantly coming up on stage during the contest, that would get annoying real fast. You don't even need someone to make an opening speech. All you need is a decent intro video like most cons have (instructions on how to vote, spoiler warnings, etc).

I notice "make sure events run on schedule" isn't on the list. Sad.

You do realize that most 'Org users are fervently against Kunicon as a general principle, right? Why do you care what we think? We want you to fail.

Now you're just being an ass. If you're going to take that sort of viewpoint as a staffer? You're just encouraging people to take their money and go to a con that's actually worthwhile.

Alright I shall do this.

I remember kunicon giving out prizes of like a big flat screen tv's of some sort I dont know how a 200 dollar rock guitar and signed by the creator of FLCL can compare with a 600-1000 dollar flat screen tv.

You do make out a point, I was thinking more like during the opening of the AMV contest to at least give a intro song before we start or something. But I would take your idea into consideration.

Michieru wrote:These are my objectives for kunicon atlanta

The reason why this is not "my" objective is because I cannot be held responsible for everything that goes at the con. The company and the entire staff are responsible for that objective. I shall give it 100% in my part and try to find volunteers who really know what there doing and to make sure they give us 100% and still not killing them with work.

Yes I do realize this and I am here to improve kunicon's image by fixing every single issue people have with this con. I am doing this on my own free time I am not getting paid to sponser this. Besides the money I would get for working at kunicon in atlanta. If you want me to fail that's your opinion I am going to make sure the AMV part of this convention would not screw up and kunicon keeps there word on this. I am here for the fans and to make sure the entry to the con was worth it.

I am glad you pointed out the errors in this pre release outline, I would rewrite some stuff and await more user feedback.

While maybe you cannot understand my joke but either way this document was intended for manny only but I gave it you guys as well for review. If you did not like it fine by me I have nothing against people who are obese and I shall fix this con to be worthwhile I am sorry that your previous kunicon conventions where a mess I never did go to the one in St. Louis but I did go to the one in Miami. I saw first hand some of the issues posted by current users here on a-m-v.org so I plan on fixing the most possible in the one at Atlanta.
Plus the word failure does not exist on my book I keep my promises unless kunicon decides to cancel this project.

Kunicon gave out a big screen tv at Otakucon Miami. They were *going* to give out a computer system at St. Louis but I don't think they did due to low contest turnout. You mentioned a computer system as well which is why I bring up the point about big-ticket prizes.

Flashiness != quality. Burn that into your brain.

Well I was thinking of changing that after I wrote this of taking the computer system out and put the guitar as first place. Also there is no reason for me to apologize on a bad joke. Like I told you before this was intended for manny not for you guys. But I posted it up anyway so you guys can review it and make any changes. For ticket prices I would see if I can get kunicon to drop down prices to maybe 30 dollars at the door. instead of 43 dollars.

Here's an idea - all AMV editors who submit into the contest should get free admission. After all, the AMV contest is an advertising point - without the editors, there's no AMVs, and without the AMVs, there's one less attractive thing Kunicon has to offer.

I doubt it can be done for free but I am sure the prices can be dropped to maybe 10 dollars for entry to anyone who submitted a couple of videos, Manny is in a meeting as we speak during the weekend and would be available monday. I would see what I can do for you guys on this price drop.

Like all submitters can get in for free to watch the amv contest but for the rest of the con they can get a discount on the entry price.

Your AMV contest will not be successful as long as you continue to try to attract people with flashy prizes.

The people who care about the videos don't want to be a part of something seen to be a moneymaking scheme, so when you begin to offer computers and big screen TVs, those of us with a shred of talent immediately become very suspicious of yout contest.

Your contest will continue to be bad until you drastically change your base philosophy behind the contest.

I don't think this subject requires any further discussion.
