Kunicon Atlanta

Post by Michieru » Fri Apr 08, 2005 7:59 pm

Hello I am new into the scene and one of the con attenders at miami. I have seen some of the stuff risingsun.net was talking about and while some things he points out are true. Others are just completely false. Eitherway I shall help Kunicon restore it's image and I have already been reading on a few things you guys posted on here about this. So I would like to tackle one thing at a time so Kunicon in Atlanta works out for everyone.

First off I would like to know you, your tastes in music, anime, and your opinions on what you would like to see changed in kunicon. I read alot of posts on the AMV being a disaster. But this can be changed if you can give us another chance and offer us details on what needs to be changed. I know Kunicon is not a company just about the money since I know probably manny more than others, I would take your word for it though. I Would be helping in the technical department. You shall not see a No Signal message unless there is a power failure at the convention itself I would have to bring some small UPS backup systems to give you 100 minutes or so to keep on enjoying yourselves until power is restored. I would also eventually change the hardware kunicon uses to display these videos. I know they used "Windows" horrible idea but then again I am a mac user. When presenting video it needs to be in high quality and that it would run smoothly. By using a simple software called VLC. Can play any file, so that fixes one issue. I also use VLC for my home computers and ran Naruto 1-125 perfectly on VLC. As for the high quality it would be what you guys do. As for the dealer rooms while I must say I do not know much about this I think one of you guys who knows how to run a proper dealer room should run it. Kunicon should be a company who supports it's fans and I have seen this alot with manny. I know there are some issues about kunicon management but I would also try to work on this. As for the DJ rooms I would need to make a poll on what music you guys like to hear. Remember guys a convention can't run smoothly when being flamed. It's the same as hitting a kid for doing something wrong. They might not do it again but you leave a scar on the staff. They tried in St. Louis and from what I heard people enjoyed it beside a few problems. So like I said before please give me any comments and suggestions on Kunicon and if you wish to participate please send me an email at kunicon@earthlink.net

Here's another suggestion: instead of getting software that can play anything, try accepting only the formats you know your hardware/software can play.
Most conventions have restrictions on accepted formats and still have no trouble getting enough entries to fill two hours (or more).

This problem is now solved since manny decided to only accept mpeg2, mpeg1 and Huff YUV. Next issue ;). For a more detail on the formats available please go here. http://atl.kunicon.com/?go=contests&anime&amv

I am doing this I review every submission before it being sent to kunicon. As of right now there is only one submissions sadly but I hope for more. I shall also watch the entire CD once put on dvd to make sure it has no problems and use the same dvd player just incase if we bought a new one that does not except burned dvd-r cd's. (That would kill it all) I hope to get at least 20 submissions or 30 to have the contest.

So your saying to plan out the entire contest then do it as if it where the real thing before the contest. Is that what you mean?

That would also be a good way to catch problems with the order of videos to be shown (*coughO2K4cough*)...
