I am writing this post to all of you from the computer lab at the Art Institute of Tampa, 30 minutes before my first class for a degree in Media Arts and Animation. I am sitting here today because of this community and what it has shown me. Editing AMVs and being around others who enjoy the fandom inspired me to really give it all I had. Sadly, I am not as good an editor as I thought I was. But the people here helped me to become better. As a result, here I sit at the cusp of what is to be my future in the animation world. I would like to say thank you to all of you who I have had a chance to talk with either on AIM or at a convention, an everyone here who works so hard to make the art we all love. Because of your friendship, I am living proof that dreams really do come true.

I took a year off form AMVs to find out more about the world I was stepping into, and in my search I found myself in CG animation using programs like Bryce and Maya. But I never forget where I came from. I hope to be able to come back here and finish what I started.

I wanted to post this in the hopes of hearing some other stories of AMV inspired success. And to pass along my story that even though now it seems like a hobby, or a phase, no matter what, follow your dreams, and they will not fail you.

That's awesome to here Xeno.

I'm a Digital/New Media major at Emerson College now, and that's all thanks to AMVs as well. :)

But if you watch my 2003 AMVs and compare them with my 2005 ones (especially the most recent ones), you can see the difference in quality. I even remade one- the two month difference in skill level shows because I learned so much from hanging out at the org and watching other people's AMVs.

Art Institute of Tampa? In what part of the city is that? IADT is the one I know we have here.

AMV making may have nothing to do directly with my career. But manga does- graphic novels get checked out A LOT at public libraries. And anime does too to a lesser extent. I even have had people searching for strategy guides for video games.
aye. from my first AMV to some of my latest (not including the Eva lov story cuz i was very lazy with it <_< ill get it fixed when i get the better EVA dvds) i progressed alot in my skills and understanding.

AT of tampa is right across the street of the RJ stadium.

Nice story dude, actually this site has made me a far better creator than I used to be. Which is always a cool thing because I used to suck, and look at me now! Some people like me! :P

Hey Xeno,
I know we've known eachother for along time now man, since I was Nemoxs and that Tenchi video I belive . It seems like a while now and it's kinda hard to belive how much I've grown up since I started on here, but you were one of the reasons I stuck with making amvs (you and beowulf, but him for a diffrent reason ).

I myself am starting college in the fall and what awaits I hope is something along the lines of bliss [insert joke here], though. I hope you're filled with excitment at this point through what you're about to go threw (or did).

Good Luck man.

thank you Ryan, im happy that my time with you helped you. passing on what i knew and shairing my insights also helped me to see things from another light.

Class today was freaking awsome. comtpuer basics youd think is a boring "this is a mouse" kinda class. but most of the core learning was around how comptuers handel information using programs like photoshop and other image minipulation programs.

i even learned some new photoshop tricks i can already see are going to make a VERY large impact on my editing from now on.

this is ONE day. i almost wish they would let me move into a supply colsit up there.

my other class's this quarter include color theory, principels of design and english comp. i am very excited to see what i will learn in the coming years.
