Help with Uncompressed Video

Post by Kracus » Fri Apr 01, 2005 6:43 pm

Ok, I never thought this could actually happen. At this moment my computer can not play back uncompressed video. When I open a file it begins to run but all you see is black.

Every other file plays back fine.

Now for the background. Last weekend, I didn't want to bother meddling with huffs settings so I just did a straight uncompressed. Came out fine. Played in my media player. I then compressed it into two other formats: mpg and avi.

Last night I was finishing off the project by creating a separate video file that I was going to add to the end. I was using aftereffects. I did uncompressed. Well when I go to play it back I get black screen. At this point I think it is aftereffects and some goofy setting that was set that I didn't know about. So I get all pissed off and just went to bed (after watching two episodes of anime).

When I get to work it plays back fine on my friends laptop and my laptop. So the uncompressed worked there. So I thought the AE problem was done. When I transfer the avi file back onto my main comp, black screen.

So I checked the original video for the AMV I created in premiere and it is also black screening.

The only thing I can remember installing was AMVapp, which I didn't install any of the codecs from it which I didnt' think would be a problem for uncompressed video.

I can get around my problem by just finishing it off on my laptop, but I need to fix this issue. So any advice please. :(

Perhaps you configured FFDShow to decode raw video data on the install? That's the only thing that could change anything to do with uncompressed video.

hah, weird.

Well when you mentioned ffdshow, I do remember doing something to those settings, but I couldn't remember what. So I just fumbled through there and changed a setting I can't remember changing and I can see the uncompressed video name. :) Thank you.
