*sigh* Y'know klinky, I wish I could somehow apply your opinion to my own convictions. But in my anime watching lifetime, I don't believe anything has been more miserable than being an eva fan.
This doesn't have anything to do directly with the series itself. In fact, when I finished watching EoE, though I still had plenty of questions, I felt very satisfied with the whole story, like it had reached its appropriate conclusion. Then, all of a sudden I start meeting all these people with their own little opinions based on supposed facts such as:
"the series ending is better"
"Anno didn't have any idea what he was doing"
"Gainax made Anno direct End of Eva because of all the fans complaining!"
"The events during the end of the series are the same as the events in EoE"
"The events during the end of the series are totally different from the events in EoE"
"Anno didn't have an overall theme until the 16th episode!"
"Eva is something everyone looks at a different way"
"Shinji's a dork!"
"Asuka's a bitch!"
"Rei's scary!"
"Eva sucks!"
URRRRRRRGH!!! >_<
I would like to thank alternatefutures and every other human being who has succeeded in making my apprieciation of Eva a living hell and has made me feel that my own opinions and interpretations simply don't count.
I am not arrogant enough to ignore them and not strong enough to consider their opinions invalid in opposition to mine. This rorshach blot approach to Eva is simply not working because people agrily seem to think that everyone should see it their way thus they turn into total bastards and dive straight into controversy.
I'm sick of arguing and fighting for what I want to think about Eva, it's not worth the effort. I'm getting pretty close to hanging it all up and simply not having an opinion about Eva at all. Which is a sad thing because I really had a great time watching it and would love to go on saying that it's my favorite anime series and movie ever. But every time I revive my confidence someone comes along to tear it down with their own all-powerful fact about what was going on with Anno at this or that time, thus the series should be seen this way because it's the right way! ERRRRRRGH!!
*sigh* Well that's my little Eva blow up...

You're welcome NPC3000. But really, you can thank the people I've come into contact with that keep saying "Eva is tehBEST EVAR! If U don liek it u must be stupid!", sorta like what jbone did, only with worse grammar.
The ironic thing is that I do believe Eva has the same value as a Rorshach test. The problem is that it's really easy to make something like that.
And I will get that Nugget review done for you sometime in the near future ^_^

What's really sad about some of these treads is when you really get down to it ppl are just constantly repeating themselfs. "you entitled to your opinion even though it's wrong and here's why: <insert some poor, lame and/or some good thought out excues why person 'A' believes person "B" shouldn't like series 'X'>"
Don't sit there and dis the series. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that everyone has to share in your opinion. It ruins it for the people that acutally like it. Yes, I'm being a little hypocritical with my post about DBZ, but from now on I'm gonna try and prevent myself from doing that again.
Comments like: "Oh well, at least the cells make good toilet paper... no wait, they don't even do that!" REALLY fuel my fire. I don't seem to remember jBone making the comment, "Eva is tehBEST EVAR! If U don liek it u must be stupid!" anywhere on this thread or anything that even closely resmebles it.
Furthermore, people have been overanalizig things that they have liked for a very long time. Just because an writer(or an artist in any form) doesn't initally put ideas or views into their work doesn't mean that it's not there. Some people like to speculate on things that they might see are there but really not. Such things sprak conversation and descussion. Who cares if they are there or not. Such things dont make a work less or better. So let's just leave it at that.

Re: Evangelion
See, now if you read the thread you would have found that. And if someone can't say something negative about the series, then no one should be allowed to say something positive either.jbone wrote:Just 'cause you didn't understand it doesn't mean it's bad...
If someone makes a statement to the effect of "I like such and such a show" that's perfectly alright and they should not be attacked for just those statements. If they make such and statement and then adress the contents of a second party's post, then the second party is perfectly within the limits to responding to those comments.
I love all these people who like to lay down rules that have the sole intention of shackling only one side of a discussion.

Sagara Sanosuke isn't telling you that you have to comply with such and such rules about voicing your opinions alternatefutures. He/she is only requesting that you let the Eva fanboys be fanboys and not try to enforce your opinions, you certainly don't have to obey those wishes, but it has nothing to do with what you are and aren't allowed to post.
BTW, I can't believe you're taking jbone so seriously ^_^

You had more then made you're position known of how much you dislike Eva in the first post. I never tried to lay down a rule that would prohibit people posting bad comments about a series. More the oposite, it creates discussion. I do feel that the way that you had written your first post was a lil forcefull and a over a line that I would have choosen not to crossed. It's one thing to express dislike things. It's another to try to force ones opinions on another(at least that what i felt you were trying to do) and use vulgar comments that would seeming correctly display your hate for it.
Though I do feel there should be a line, it's not my places to set forth such a rule and to enforce it.[/i]

There is no smilie in jbone's post and that is the standard response from an Eva fanboy, so why shouldn't I take it seriously? And if Sagara is requesting that I stop voicing my opinions, than he should have told Eva supporters to do the same. As it was, he didn't. And I'm not forcing my opinions on anyone. I don't have a gun to anyone's head, I'm not telling anyone to shut up because I don't like what they're saying (unlike some people here). I'm excerising my 1st Amendmant rights while not infringing on the rights of another. You don't like that? Move to China.

alternatefutures, my very point is that Sagara Sanosuke is on his own side, he is requesting that you not voice your opinions so Eva fans can have their fun. You clearly don't want this, so, as you said, you have a right to voice your own opinion.
Are you in a bad mood or do you just really really hate Eva? I've generally regarded you as a pretty nice guy but you're really burning up on this thread.
