Post by x_rex30 » Thu Mar 24, 2005 12:38 am

Everyone says, use huffyuv, use huffyuv... is it really the best for lossless quality? Please read the comparison ratios on the site, and give me your impressions, and/or any feedback. Thnx!! ^_^

The MSU codec is slow as fuck. Use Lagarith if you want superior compression to huffyuv without a massive drop in speed.

Another thing to keep in mind is that MSU has stated that future versions of the codec may not be backwards compatable (not surprising for pre 1.0 versions), so if you're planning to use the codec to archive a video, you might not be able to use the video if you upgrade MSU.
Lagarith: Best lossless codec ever in my completely objective opinion.

wasn't happy with MSU - plus its not free... i was getting 1fps on 720*576 video running an athlon 64 at 2.9ghz! WTF!!
now with HUFFYUV i get 130fps on the same setting (no audio on either)
which i believe is about the max i can pull from one HDD to the other
