I've installed every damn Lame MP3 codec that ever was distributed and Vegas still can't render my video without an error opening the audio codec.
It just doesn't make sense. I'm sure Vdub will do it with no problem, but Vegas apparently can't. I don't want ot have to render the video without the audio, put it into Vdub and render AGAIN if i have to.
Has anybody else had this problem? Anybody know of an mp3 codec that will work?
Also, I just installed the WM9 encoder, thinking that I could use that instead (it's pretty universally used right?), but Vegas doesn't even SEE the damn thing, and is clutter with shitty codecs at 8kb/s called CCiPLat, ACELM blah, garble garbage, G.621, G .7315 fucked up blah.
Going insane.

Don't do final video or audio renders from Vegas. Export lossless video (huffyuv or lagarith) and uncompressed (PCM) audio. I've had the same trouble with Vegas and Lame though. You might be able to use the default mp3 codec, but is has to be the professional Fraunhofer version. Strange thing is I just did some test renders and Lame works just fine for me, strange. It never worked before. And the pro Fraunhofer works for me too.
As for the WM9 encoder I don't think you can use .wma in .avi files. If you want .wma use the whole .wmv format. VirtualDubMod doesn't allow .wma for audio streams so I doubt it's possible. Ignore the other codecs you mentioned, they are old and total crap compared to anything today.

The pro version of the default mp3 codec in Windows, which is the Fraunhofer codec (Fraunhofer created mp3, thus it being included for compressing and decompressing). However, only the basic version is defaultly installed for decoding and limited encoding.bum wrote:Pro version of what?
Read through this thread Compressing Audio and the links it contains if you need more info about getting the Fraunhofer pro codec. But basically, installing WMP10 will get you it, since Microsoft acquired it for use in CD ripping to mp3 from WMP10.
That's true if the only thing you are exporting is the mvid with no bumpers. Even if its direct I still just render the audio with the video as uncompressed PCM, then compress it in vdub.bum wrote:Unless the audio is edited, theirs no need to render it in vegas, jut render the video then add the audio through vdm.
