Uniqueness AMV contest

Post by The end » Sun Mar 20, 2005 1:02 pm

Rules of entry:

- The video must feature 90% anime.
- You are permitted to use more then one song, however, it must adhere to the classification of "unique", as outlined below.
- The video must use high quality footage, or it will be disqualified. I can't watch low quality crap.
- The video can not feature unintentional subtitles (fansubs). If you add your own subtitles, you _must_ let me know.
- Try and keep the video relatively clean. Hentai and such is ok, but it's for the best of the video if it's only to help the story or in a comedic fassion.
- Your video may _not_ be premiered earlier then 2005.
EDITED the rule here.
- You may enter the following formats: MPEG 1/2, XviD, DivX, WMV, and x264 or whatever it's name was. Any other codecs is gambling. If it works, then you're still in, but if it doesn't work you're disqualified. I will not bother getting new codecs for this occasion.
- Since someone was funny with my ISP, I can't accept things over DCC on IRC, so you're left with one of the options of sending me a physical copy on a disc, or sending me the file over MSN.

Genres:

- You may enter any of the following genres:
Action, drama, fun/comedy, dance, romance and other.
- Your video may be eligable for prices in more then one genre if suitable.
- However, the only to receive any prize (other then honor and a review) is the one to win the contest overall.

Unique:

- The anime(s) may not be in the most used anime list.
- The group(s) may not be in the most used group list.
EDITED out this rule.
<Brsrk> The_end: stop being so fucking strict on rules
There you go =P.

Awards:

- There'll be best:
Action,
Drama,
Fun/Comedy,
Dance,
Romance,
Other,
Overall,
Most unique execution.

All except best overall will receive only honor and an extensive opinion, as of now. The best overall video will receive one DVD of that person's choice (although I can't promise that it's available or in the region of your choice, sorry), anime or not. This may change if my financial oppurtunities suddenly get an intresting turn for the better, in which case I'd increase the prizes.

Other:

If you're intrested in joining, don't post here, rather: PM me, email me at justatragichero@gmail.com , IM me over MSN (same as my email address), or PM me on IRC (I'm in #AMV under the handle The_end). Only questions go here.

The date of latest entry isn't sure yet, but I'll post it when it is clear.

That'd be all ^^.

EDIT: Forgot to add:

Judging - Will be done by a few of my friends. Details to be posted at a later date.

Any limitation on length of video? If we choose to send it to you on disc, do we pm you for the address?

There's no video length limitation, so no worries. And yes, that'd be what you would do.

Alright, since I've received a few entreties that break the premieredate rule, I've decided to have it removed so that more people may enter without having to worry about it. Besides, it's such a small contest that it'd be stupid... ;).

However, instead, the video must be quite new... that means nothing older then January 2005. Hope this rule is to the satisfaction of most.
