EVA animated fanfic concept (my first amv attempt)

Post by Tirranek » Sun Mar 20, 2005 8:09 am

Hi all! I'm very new to the world of making AMV's and I was hoping for some insight and maybe some help with this concept.

The premise would be telling a story of Evangelion that didn't actually happen. A fanfiction in many ways, but animated. I haven't seen this done before so if anyone has links to AMV's that do this, that would be great!

In this case, the focus is on on Shinji and Asuka and their relationship; and the extreme lows that both of them are on. The difference here is that Shinji and Asuka are actually in a full and proper relationship, but things have gotten screwed up. This video would show their angst against each other that eventually becomes hatred. In the end, Rei intervines and makes them remember what they had before everything went wrong.

The 'plot' would be divided into the three verses of the song, with each section of the verse showing a point of view.

The first verse is Shinji's perspective
The second verse is Asuka's perspective
And the third verse is Rei's solution

In all three cases - because of the structure of the song - I can show both their problem, and their solution in the following chorus.

In the case of Shinji, he sees Asuka as having become cold and agressive (not that much of a stretch of the imagination); and his solution to that is to simply feel 'above her'. He imagines her down in the dumps, and how much better off he is in life, so he looks contented while she is a wreck.

In Asuka's case, she has become so sick of Shinji (as you might) that she sees him almost as a danger. So her visualisation is a lot of agressive imigary; and her solution is to basically lash back and imagine herself wrecking everything around her.

Rei comes in afterwards and towards the end of the song, makes them remember how happy they were in the beginning; and breathes new life into them in a sense.

So the reason this is a fanfic is that there's an obvious 'feel good' ending to it, which doesn't exaclty keep in line with Eva.

That's the basic concept of the amv. I've done a 'draft' of sorts, not brilliant audio or visual quality but it would convey the concept. It's not good enough to put on here yet I don't think, but if anyone is interested I can send it to them for some opinions. I'm happy for this to be a joint project if anyone wants to lend a hand :)

Anyway sorry for the long post, thanks for reading!

"<a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... =2121">The One I Love Is...</a>" was based on a fanfic of the same name by Rakna, one of the first to really explore the Shinji-Asuka-Rei love triangle possibility in depth (and it did it pretty well, too).
