Brightness

Post by drdread » Thu Mar 17, 2005 7:59 pm

Before I post my problem, I did some searches prior and didn't find anything that concerned my topic, so in case if there is already a post that is similar to mine, I apologize.

Anyway, I export my video in HuffYUV from Premiere, and from that I use VDubMod to fast compress it to Xvid. I used all the settings that is shown in the guide page regarding xvid configuration, and the video turned out very nice. It's smooth and I can hardly tell any pixelation, however the colour darkens.

I've read the guide on colourspace like seriously 3 times, I just DON'T understand it. If it's not too much trouble, I was wondering if someone could help me solve this problem? All I need is to brighten my video.

Thanks for reading.

XviD seems to do that sometimes. Use "full processing" mode in VirtualDub, and got into the Filters section and add Chroma Smoother (setting you probably want is 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 (MPEG-4)) and perhaps a Brightness/Contrast filter to the video (tweak up both settings a bit). Keep playing with it and re-encoding it until it looks right. :)

err, chroma smoother settings should probably be 4:1:0 (MPEG-4). In Video/Filters, hit add and you should see the filter list. Make sure it's on Full Processing mode or else it'll just ignore the filters.
