I just try to do what good amvs do and NOT do what bad amvs do.
My definition of good and bad amvs are just my opinion but I think it'd be safe for me to say that it falls under a large majority of the anime "unsaid rulez"
[lots of cuts > 2-3 cuts]
[lots of footage > just one loong piece of footage]
[short scenes > loooong scenes]
[beat timing > random shlomp]
I also set up a "standardized musical" beat to my footage as well. Anyone who understands the 'basics' of music knows that it is measured in beats of eight. So all my scenes work by counting heard [or unheard] beats of 8, 4, 2, and 1. It's predictable, but the fact is, all the best musicians and DJs I've spoken with and contacted state that 8 is just the right measure of music. I figured, hey, why not use it as a guideline for footage?
But enough of my secret plans, erkh...
When I watch other amvs, I just decide if it's something I can LEARN from, or something I can't. If I learn something neat from it, I keep it. If I like what I'm learning, it's a Master's AMV. If I hate it, I delete it. Basic fundamental rules I think all amv editors should at least know exist, but that's just my opinion.

Jaina's Hallelujah is the first that comes to mind:SuperFusion wrote:Do those even exist on the org yet?Anamorphic Productions wrote:
And if action video ruined your mood, why not watch some slower, dramatic/spiritual videos to get you back in the swing of things?

Vlad G Pohnert's Memories Dance is just amazing.

And Slackegirl's This Lonely Place is a little more action, but still very dramatic.

There are many more, but I find it hard to remember the slower, more emotional videos sometimes.
