I know only about a handful of .org members in real life, and only a few of those are people I'd consider close friends. I've gotten a few opinions from them, the majority of which were on videos I consider to be my lesser-known. So I always appreciate receiving their opinions, it's a thoughtful thing to do.
As far as actively seeking out opinions from personal friends, it's something I don't often do. This is mainly because it seems that people tend to opinionate the videos they like the best. If someone freely gives their opinion, it's usually a fairly positive one. However, if you have a friend do it out of obligation, you may find the review to be not as glowing. And when it comes from a close friend, it's a lot easier to get your feelings hurt. So I prefer not to solicit opinions from friends, but if they liked my video enough to give them on their own, that's great.

What measly number of reviews I have were all from 'relative' strangers... I know that one of them is from someone that I have met in another forum, of which she isn't exactly one of those that I have known for too long... but she gave me an opinion anyway...

I've reviewed strangers videos. I don't know if it's subconscious or whatever, but I've always found myself not reviewing friend's... But then again, I figured as well that if I had an opinion about their vid, then I should say it to their face. Otherwise, really, all you are going to be doing is adding to their ops list and boosting them up a bit... I guess my friends and I are just a little above that at times...

I don't think I have friends.

The only ops I really get are from trades or freebie topics, so I pretty much know when I'm going to get an op. I get the occassional random stranger one, but those tend to be crappy three-liners.

I know since I first joined this site, me and Paulo have always given each other honest reviews about our work and we still do to this day :D

Alot of people bother me on AIM to op their vids(like 80 people), thats why I changed screen name :P

For me there is only one real life friend that I've really got to know. Since last year we haven't really traded opinions. It's like I'm still in my mode of growth so he can only tell me so much. He's surpassed me in my knowledge so I can't really help him unless I'm stating the obvious. Oping with him kind of fizzled away. I will still ask him to beta cause I know he will nitpick my video. It sucks but it's necessary. Strangers a little bit better because they are at different levels and I really don't know how they edit. I think I tend to go for opinions more towards new editors or people who haven't been editing too long cause I can actually help. If they are too skilled I won't see the errors as well and can only say I liked the video. Because they are strangers it won't hurt their feelings as much if at all that I couldn't say as much compared to what I am "expected" to say to a friend.

I have a brother on this site and I refuse to give him ops. I also never give him a strait answer on my opinion face to face. I guess I don't want to piss someone off that I know? I don't know, I figure I will eventually [give him an op].

As far as whether or not I expect ops from my friends, well, no. An op from a friend (at least a good one) is probably more of a demand than it is from a stranger. What I mean is that your friend (be they real-life or intarweb) can give it to you face to face/over your choice IM medium. Expecting them to write some elaborate thing and make choices on scores (which aren't always clear cut) might be asking too much.

Most of my relatives cannot use correctly a computer.....

I've got 2 friends found of anime and AMV who gave me details and honest ops so I'm ok with it. Just ask them to be frank for the marks....
But the 17 others ops of my latest amv came from members that I don't know: The ops exchange section is here on purpose, but it is true that i would have prefered having less ops from beginners, and just some from skillful creators.... .

Keep waiting. There are some things so horrible in life that they dominate your mind and conversation. Being married is one of them.
