Wouldn't it be easier to bring back the old calander view. I thought that was way easier to get information out of.

The calendar is still available as always. Personally, I always found it more difficult to use as I suspect other people have, too. The purpose of this thread is just a quick, at-a-glance view of the major upcoming conventions. I don't really want it to grow beyond that and it definitely won't replace the Org's calendar.

Got it. I'll put it on the list for July.

There was a calendar view before the current one which was a listing, much like this thread is. Backin the old days of the org.

I'm new to this website. In fact new to the whole idea.

What exactly is a convention?
What's the point of one?
Why do have to submit work?
Is there one in NYC?

Do I have to show up at the convention? Or just submit work?

What exactly is a convention?
A collective event where thousands of people show up to waste time and money on - in this context - anime-related activities. A music video contest is only one of these activities, and a popular one these days.
What's the point of one?
That depends on who you talk to. In the Big Scheme Of Life, they're actually pointless.
Why do have to submit work?
You don't. However, in most cases you are required to submit cash, check, or credit card if you wish to attend.
Is there one in NYC?
Don't think so. But you can look here to find out. Click some of the links under Upcoming Events, read the Web pages and you'll get a good picture of what anime conventions are all about.

For most contests, you don't need to attend the convention. There are a few that require attendance or at least the purchase of membership (i.e. an entry ticket to the con). You need to read the rules of each contest to know for sure.

Yes, I don't remember it being that ugly, but that was pretty much the just of it. It would certainly save you alot of time if this still existed.

Not this year, but there's something even better -- there's one outside of NYC: AnimeNEXT, coming to the Meadowlands Expo Center this year, only 5 miles or less from Manhattan. :)
