song search

Post by illuminon » Tue Feb 22, 2005 4:40 pm

ok...im thinking of making a trigun vid, with a theme of (basically) happy-sad-angry. so basically...vash is happy, something happens (ie. people start dying), and he goes crazy (enter action scenes and general blowupness). so, i have the idea...but i dont have a song. if anyone knows of a song that fits that progression in any way shape or form it would be a really good help...or just a general "kick-ass" song would work to i guess (heh, im probably asking for too much when i expect a song that will fit perfectly...but i can hope cant i? :)

Maybe...this...?

I think I have found at least one song that would fit pretty well with the moods you want, but in a switched order...sort of.

Collective Soul - "The World I Know" - I'm amazed that no one has ever done this with Trigun, but it would work pretty well. If you don't know, it's all about a guy who is angry at the world, so he decides to commit suicide. Eventually, though, he realizes that that's just foolish thinking and he can be happy with the world the way it is. See? Anger, depression, happiness. It's all there. There are only two things that I think are missing. 1. None of these emotions are displayed in extremes. Meaning, the music stays the same - it's the lyrics that change in mood. 2. It doesn't have the "kick ass" feeling to it whatsoever. If you really work at it, you could pull off fight scenes very artistically to this song, but maybe this song doesn't have the impact you want.

I'll keep looking, though. I have one other song I'm considering, but I gotta check up on that one yet before I suggest it. Do you have anything against instrumentals? Or, if I can't get all three emotional qualites in one song, could I suggest one that encompasses just two of them? I can think of a few songs that would just fit two of the qualities, in all combos.

Hope this helps and I hope I can help more!

As always, Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!

Could this help?

Post by dj_ultima_the_great » Sun Feb 27, 2005 2:16 pm

You're very welcome. Always glad to help!

Okay, I checked up on that other song. Here's the title:

Philp Glass, Michael Riesman, and the Lyric Quartet - "I'm Going to Make a Cake" - uh, kind of a weird name, but the song is serious. Funny thing about it is that this song can be interpreted as practically any emotion because of the way it's done. I can't explain too well - just watch this:

Yes, this means that there is already a video to this song, but it's the only one. So it's certainly not overdone.

I'll keep thinking and hopefully, unless you find something between now and then, I can come up with some more music.

Ayreon - Day Sixteen: Loser, it has a Didjeridoo, fiddles, a bouncy chorus, amazing lyrics and one hell of a heavy ending :)
I fear the little people.

*is all glowy now*

*glows at the praise*

While I very much appreciate the offer, my videos and future projects are beyond salvation I'm afraid. I only just learned how to upload them about three hours ago. ^_^;; Embarrassing.

Besides, the greatest reward in helping people find music is that you get not only to see a cool AMV, but one put to music you like. It's a win-win situation as far as I'm concerned.

Also, I second "Day Sixteen: Loser" by Ayreon that Catatonik suggested. I just heard it and I have to say that it is an utterly bizarre song, but not a bad one. I would question the lyrics a bit, particularly in the final verse, but I think the first two verses could be interpreted well with the right scenes. The music sound Irish or something. Is Ayreon a European band? Either way, it's pretty cool.
