"score" vs "star" on the Star Scale

Post by SilverSennyo » Wed Feb 23, 2005 11:29 pm

I'm assuming one of them is the star average, but which one? and if so, what does the other one mean? Does it have to do with the number of people who rated it?

as you can tell, I am just a little confused.

Score is the Baysian score. Please don't ask for the explanation, it would require a not insignificant amount of statistics. The Stars is just the straight star average.

Oooh, I just found this post by Phade in the "Site Announcements" section.

He (I hope i'm right about the gender) does an excellent job of making the Bayesian method of scoring understandable. Even to us simple minded fools who know nothing about pobability theorems.

[MOD/pi: yeah, Phade is a he]
