Hate is such a strong word since so much of an any art form is influenced by so many things.
Years ago I saw a poster of a tree that had names of all different rock and roll artists on it. It showed the different artists that influenced rock and roll's formation in the roots. The trunk was the artists in the 1960's and the branches had the names that the different sub-genre's of rock that branched out from the trunk. The higher into the branches you go, the more recent the artists become.
I would love to see something like that done for anime. It would take a real anime historian to do it, seeing who influenced who. Every anime artist/director/story writer can claim a common heritage in their influences.
So maybe hate is not the right word for it. There is some anime now that I reflect upon it, I would not be crazy about watching, but I can see how it might have influenced what I do enjoy watching. And for that, I am grateful for it.
