This is demonstrably false. I am a real dickhead, fairly active on the forums, and have so few people who like me that even my invisible friend is giving me the silent treatment (unfortunately, my wife isn't). One of my videos got nominated. This proves you don't need to be friends, or even liked, by others to get nominated.

Well I was nominated as well but what i was refering to was the fact that no one could possibly contiue unless they were well known.I mean to be nominated in the first round wasnt that hard a thing just had to have mad the vids in between certain dates...

Ah, yes. But name recognition, positive or negitive, plays a factor. So you don't have to be liked in order for people to pay more attention to videos you've made.

I'm never gonna atend an american con cause I'm way too far from the U.S.

I entered cons 3 times. Once it was semi-successful (nomination for Best Romance at AWA), the other 2 times they disqualified me for blood and nudity, which normally pissed me off.

I usually enter online contests and so far it turned out well (at least I got many dlds

). IMO Online activity does much more than con activity since the org itself is situated online

. But oh well, I've never been on a con so I might not know what benefits that offers.

You make a vid that you think is good and just advertise. In time it'll: get rejected, accepted or praised by the public. The only time you fail with your video is when you yourself hate it. Creators that hate their own creations are worst creators.

And btw the public doesn't know shit. :angry hitler: So, just make vids, for you.

It's to get your video seen by alot of people.

Activity on the forums has some influence I think. Personally, all of the videos I download were being announced or pimped here or maybe in personal chat / irc. It's very rare that I use the search or one of the lists to look for good videos. But it's also rare that a really good video which wasn't announced by the creator gets overlooked this way
