Connecting a PS2 to a computer?

Post by ArmoredGriffon » Thu Feb 03, 2005 3:20 pm

Hey everyone, can you help me out?
I need to know how to get a computer to read a PS2, so I can get high-quality cutscenes and footage off of games (specifically Armored Core), so I can make AC AMVs, butr I have no idea how to do it. What connections do I need? Do I need a specific program? where can I find them?

Thx in advance.

Aren't there ways to rip cutscenes directly off of PS2 discs, so that you can do everything right on your computer without having to use the PS2 at all?

I'm not sure, but I was also planning to have a little in-game footage as well...

You could try hooking up your PS2 to your computer if it has A/V cable ports, actually I've never tried this myself so I have no idea if it would work. A more realistic way to handle this is to try and download a PS2 emulator onto your computer. If the emulator has the ability to record and capture game footage, that might help you a lot. Don't worry about any legal issues concerning the downloading, you can't really call this illegal or anything since you own the games yourself.

Well, I don't think it would be, I don't really know whether it's illegal or not, but I think of it as having two units of the same system, one plugged into your T.V.and another built into your computer. And since there are no ROMs made from any PS2, XBOX or GameCube games (at least not now, who knows if someone can pull this off in another decade or so) the only way to play these games on your computer is to buy or rent the actual game. Granted I'm talking about the recent systems. The real legal issues come from using an NES emulator and ROM. Since I don't want to turn this into an off topic debate, P.M. me if you still disagree. I'm willing to listen.

Obviously you've been out of the loop a bit, as .iso files copies of PS2, XboX and even Gamecube games (don't ask me how they manage those) float around the filetrading sites like ducks in a pond. A tiny pond. With a lot of ducks. :o

But capturing the video game to the computer shouldn't theoretically be that hard, depending on your Mac's configuration. You'd have3 to talk to a Mac person about that. It would be pretty much the same procedure as hooking up your Mac to act like a TV, so if you can find a tutorial on that it'll work for the PS/2 as well.
Life's short.

The data a PS2 sends out is the same as television data - so you need to find out how to get TV footage in your mac - and replace the cable for the PS2...

That's exactly what I'm trying to figure out how to do, but I have no idea, I just got my mac, you see, and i'm not sure what programs I might need.
