According to the site's definition, which is well-justified, there is no such thing as anime from other countries.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

This is a terms problem; this website originated in the US (though the current head admin is from the UK, but that's another kettle of fish), and in the US, "anime" refers exclusively to animation produced in Japan. There is no "anime" from other countries under this definition in the way that there may be in other countries where the word is interpreted differently.

The definition of what has to be done in Japan for something to rate as "anime", and what things that, despite being animation produced in Japan, do not count as anime, is a sticky question that the mods and admins are continually twisting around trying to answer. However, if the game is really made in Korea by Koreans, the long and short is that it has no leg to stand on.

regrets that you're stuck,

Let me spell it out: the definition of anime at work here precludes the possibility of 'anime from other countries'. From where we're sitting, anime is in part defined by origin.

..?...

Post by scissorzack » Fri Jan 28, 2005 2:05 pm

Okey..

here comes another question...
You really seem to fight against putting in this video here...
Eventhough I've seen many AMV's from alot of American movies...like the matrix..etc
I like them but shoudn't they be more forbidden than my AMV "from korea"...

I know that Anime/Manga origins from Japan..haven't said otherwise..
Shouldn't you insted let everybody that is inspired from that japanese anime..shoudn't you let them show their works of anime..eventhough they aren't japanese..?

Manga/Anime comes from Japan...and no one can ever say otherwise..
But there can always be someone that "upgrade" the style somehow..
Like for instance I love Tetsuya Nomura, his art is wondeful.
But I have never seen anyone draw better manga than Hyung-Tae Kim (from korea..)

The only thing I wanted to show was an amazing and beatiful animation..
Regardless where it came from...

ps...I love Japan..(don't missunderstand me)

No, they are equally forbidden, not more forbidden. We have a policy that allows us to draw a line regarding what things can go on the site so that we don't end up allowing everything. You cant upload a live action video or a video done only with animation that was not produced for the japanese market. The Matrix is as equally "forbidden" as your korean game video.

Yes, the animatrix is (all but one small part) from Japan... and it is classed as anime on the site. Any more questions? Our policy is clear, has been discussed numerous times and all but the newest entries are labelled anime and non-anime for people to see what our decisions have been on footage. If there are any inconsistencies let us know, anything else is just a matter of differing opinions.

Furthermore, any non-anime AMV's slipped through will be found and deleted eventually.
