Delerium: Karma
About a year ago a freind gave me a cd with a bunch of mp3's on it. One of them was a song called silence by delerium. <insert long boring stort involving chance find at JB hifi> . Lost by Delerium is one of the damn best albums I've ever heard. The music is mainly celtic with a bit of trance in most of the songs. The lyrics are pure poetry. Its one of thoughs albums you just lay down and listen to without any distractions. Theirs something spiritual about it.

Yeah Delerium was a good get together of artists and music. I actually found other artists and groups thanks to Delerium
Btw the two people who put Delerium together, Rhys Fulber and Bill Leeb, has also put together other projects like Front Line Assembly and Conjure One, Conjure One following more on the footsteps of Delerium.

"Lost" ? I thought maybe there was a new album. This is one group whose CDs I will buy sight unseen, or unheard.
I'm not sure about the Celtic description, though. More like Europe and the Middle East from the Middle Ages. But with a modern style, kind of like Enigma except better, IMO. The Delerium Web site calls it "ambient/ethereal". The point being for those who haven't heard their work, this is not New Age music along the lines of true Celtic stylists like Loreena McKennit.
Delerium also predates the rise of trance music although they have a strong presence on the trance scene now. Tiesto's remix of "Silence" is probably better known than the original (it's also been used in AMVs). Remixes of "Innocente" also got a lot of airplay. There's a 2-CD set called "Odyssey" that collects over a dozen of the remixes that have been done.
Delerium has been around since the Eighties, but the sound that they have now did not start until 1994 with the album called Semantic Spaces. Just a warning if you start to dig into their earlier music: it will sound much different, more like the related group, Frontline Assembly (Euro industrial ?).
Jebadia's right about Conjure One. The music is very similar to Delerium's. There are some AMVs that use songs by Conjure One, too.

"Lost" was a mistake, sorry about that. My favorite song in the album is silence, and its remixes (the airscape mix especialy). Anyway, thanks for the recomendations. I'l pick some of that stuff up soon as I have money again.TaranT wrote:"Lost" ? I thought maybe there was a new album. This is one group whose CDs I will buy sight unseen, or unheard.

Bill Leeb has since admitted that the myriad side projects were an attempt to make music their full-time job, since FLA wasn't exactly paying the bills in the early 80s. Most of them have since fell by the wayside.
That being said, I still think "Mecca" of the first Delerium album is one of their best songs.
