I'm glad you brought this up, as I personally was not sure what a reasonable amount of time for this usually is. Do you have any suggestions? Should I increase the time limit?

oh and i think that 2 hours is plenty of time to edit its just that i think at that 2 hour mark you should have to make your final save and then export. Cause i could just make small mpeg1 for judging

This sounds like fun. Though I've never done an Iron Chef before, I'm sure I can take the pressure... Besides, I've kinda been out of making AMV's for a while, and need to get back into it. What better way than a 3 hour editing fest?
So anyway, sign me up. Oh yeah, and a couple questions, since I've never done one of these...
1) Will each pair of competitors get the same song to work with, or does everyone get a different song?
2) Because of the 3 hour limit, I'm guessing we don't get to know the songs in advance, right?
3) Anyone got any links to previous Iron Chef amv's so I can see what sort of thing I'm getting into?

Hey, glad you're up to the challenge
Let me answer your questions for you.
1) Each of the two competitors in the "match" will get the same song, and there will be a different song for every "match".
2) No, you will not get to hear the songs until you being editing (making it all the more fun
)
3) Hmm, I'm not sure I can help you there, though try searching for another Iron Chef thread a page or two back in the AMV Contest forum.
@ Toji: I like your idea in your last post. Remember, when you export and compress your video for the iron chef, it doesn't have to be anything fancy. A medium quality MPEG1 will do just fine as video quality will not be a factor in judging. So with a three-hour time limit, that should give plenty of time to compress a 1 minute video to MPEG1, correct?
Alright, we have 7 people interested, 1 more and we'll get the ball rolling

Awesome, you've been counted in
We'll say tentative dates for this will be as follow:
1st Round: Feb 14 - 20
2nd Round: Feb 21 - 27
3rd Round: Feb 28 - Mar 6
4th Round (If there are 16 participants): Mar 7 - 13
And remember, you and your opponent will decide on a time that works for both of you sometime during that week.

The songs I'm choosing are any length of time, but you'll only need to edit around one minute of it. What will more than likely happen is I will edit songs to one minute and distribute those to the contestants, so there will be no need to crop them on your end.

ummmmm yeah just another idea...sice we all have our own way of editing i think that i would be best to give us the full song so that the individual editors can choose the part they want to edit...but hell what am i but a lowly toy in this game know as iron chef....but just a though and i dont mean to keep trying to change what you are doing im just very opinunated at this point in time..
oh eyah and ill have that op i owe you by the end of the week greenjinjo
