-Akira is good to me, as far as the creation of the Universe goes.

DBZ IS THE GREATEST!
just kidding....
I felt that Fooly Cooly was really deep, but wasn't obvious about it. It has great things like
Also, another hidden deep title is Magcal Shopping Arcade: Abenobashi. once again, like fooly cooly, it's deep, but is lighthearted enough for a casual viewer to not think anything of it.

there are more, but that's all I'll tell you for now.SPOILERS! wrote: Naota learning to act for himself and "swing the bat" breaking away from the possesive Mamimi who, feeling rejected moves on to the other Takkuns (the cat, who later leaves her for another cat, and the Robot dog who is the terminal core) all of which bring Mamimi further into her Madness.

this, in my opinion was a very deep series.SPOILER! (again) wrote:Sasshi has to decide wether to go home an let Arumi move to Hokkaido, or travel together forever in worlds where they don't know what could happen next (at first..)

Oh yeah, definetely EVA, I haven't yet had a chance to see Ghost, it's not got a very large following in my circles, but I've been looking for a copy. Same thing for FLCL. I think the thing is that these films have more thought put into them, then say, standard television series or movies, because the author / director / producer, is not trying to appeal to a certain demographic, they are trying to appeal to somebody who wants to think, and wants to listen to what they want to say.

Two that bear up to multiple viewings are Revolutionary Girl Utena and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Utena has layers upon layers with the motivations of the characters... When you find out why they do what they do you can go back and the rest of their actions make sense. It is a series in which you can watch the very last episode and then go back to the very first one and see the seeds of the end being sown into a complicated pattern. The personalities of the characters are well developed and nuanced... Yes guys, it is a Shojo but the story is not for small children... It is a fairy tale that of the old style... the ones that do not necessarily have a happy ending.
Evangelion... well... everyone knows why you should see Eva... It is not the angels and Eva battles that deliver the power of that series....
Urda The Third Reich made me think for weeks... unfortunately the only thing I thought was that I spent wasted money and time on it...

Personally, I always thought that people were always exaggerating when they claimed to get a headache from thinking to hard. But then I rented Boogiepop Phantom.
I actually did give myself a headache from trying to fit everything together and just reflecting on the various messages and symbolism of some episodes.
