Sorry about the delay.... as mentioned I only got in late last night so thus I needed to get fed, rested and otherwise settled in before even looking at the list.
And yes I have runners up to announce, the main problem that happened was anybody who heard me at closing ceremonies could tell my voice was dying. All I could manage was to give the winners.
So here we go
Action
Winner
First Contact by Immortal Pictures
Footage was Irresponsible Captain Tylor to the First Contact trailer
Runner Up:
99 Kills by Sterling Prod
Footage was Macross TV with the song 99 red balloons.
Drama
Winner:
Time is Running Out byRed Apple Productions
Footage was from Rahxephon and used the song Time is Running Out
Runner Up:
~Aerial~ by Trythil
Footage from Kaleidostar and using the song Stars by an artist my keyboard cannot type.
Romance/Sentimental
Winner:
Key of the Twilight by Immortal Pictures
Footage was Esceflowne and the song was Key of the Twilight
Runner Up:
Black Balloon by Red Apple Productions
Footage was Zaion with the song Black Balloon
Comedy/Upbeat
Winner:
Naru-85 by Streamline Studios
Various footage with the song 1985 by Bowling for Soup
Runner Up:
Konoha Essences
Editor: Darkside Productions
In addition because we had so many videos that were incredibly short (running under 2 minutes) we did add in a last minute staff category. No serious competition as it was just bragging rights for a few of us and a chance to see fan reaction on a big screen.
Why...? Can't...? I....? by AtomX was hands down the best submission and fan favorite here.
And now the big one....... Best in Show...... (man this so does not work with text)
Jbone's video Y.A.B.V. using Footage from the Cowboy Bebop movie set to the song M.U.L.E. by Mahoney.

Congrats indeed, to all.
...I'll have to use a better audio source for the next contest I enter.
(although, I was impressed with myself for having alienated most of the audience due to the sheer amount of noise coming through the speakers)

It was inevitable: the scent of bitter almonds always reminded him of the fate of unrequited love.

Sweet! Congrats to you and the others.mckeed wrote:Runner up!!!! A totally organic experience
BTW - Thats >Streamliner< Studios!

Not wanting to begrudge another winner, but I was a little put off by Red Apple's 'Times running out'. It was my understanding that personal logos were not allowed and we got several seconds of 'Red Apple Productions' at the end. Still, the video kicked booty.

Yeah, I was of the understanding that no bumpers were allowed, or credits. Those things were integrated into the video, and still part of the video. The text at the end wasn't extra extra extra material after the video ended; it was a part of the video.kitsunebeolnet wrote:Sweet! Congrats to you and the others.mckeed wrote:Runner up!!!! However, Lynn had an issue with time. Too many videos were entered that were too short, making the contest less time then initially expected. From what I understand, Lynn let a number of things slide, related to video entries that would of normally kept those entries out of the contest.
Regardless, I think everyone did a good job. I'm sorry if this has made you upset. Regardless, congrats on your win.

Something else surprising is the number of AMVs in the 'super search' that listed they were participating in this contest that were not shown.

Yeah I have a reason for not entering into the .org catalog just yet. I'll release it soon, I promise.kitsunebeolnet wrote:Upset? Nah.Still riding a high at winning my first contest of any significance. Just surprised is all. Drama's not my normal bag, but that was one of 2 or 3 non-comedy videos I really liked.

Yeah I had a grand total of 84 minute contest thanks to having 7 vids running under 2 minuites and many others running below or just around 3 min. That was the reason for the staff category. I also tried to deal with as many windows media files I could find despite I specifically said NOT to send those.
And yes the Rahxephon video I had to let slide for that reason. Next time don't add those into your video though! It is distracting.
If people listed the vids they may have been one of the problematic files I received. I had one which should have played at a later time out of contest due to content. Many others the vid quality was so terrible that I could not do much to remedy its appearance or the files did not play correctly. I had a vhs submission that had gone through a magnetic field in shipping and couldn't make it in. I had a couple vids that never had any accompanying information.
So basically I do ask that people start reading the rules for the contests. That was one really major problem.
