The main character Yoko from 12 Kingdoms was an absolute crybaby in the first few episodes (not to mention the fact she gets picked on in school). :?

Akane from Ranma 1/2 comes to mind (they never went through with the wedding, even in the manga, after all...)

That said, Miaka from Fushigi Yuugi also comes to mind...

Well, it's probably not the best, but you can use some scenes from Fruits Basket of Shigure's Editor and Torhu's more down moments.
