What is the number of conventions you go to in a year?

Post by genestarwind21122 » Thu Jan 13, 2005 12:10 pm

I just want to see how many conventions other creators go to in a year time frame. This year I'm going to 4 of them, Katsucon, Anime Next, Otakon, and AUSA. I was thinking about Animazement, but that would mean a convention in Feburary, May, June, August, and sometime around November. And then starting in 2006 I'll be running my first convention. More information about this will be posted as I continue getting arrangments made. So at what point do you say you have had enough conventions for a year?

I usually try to hit most of the Florida cons, including : Megacon, FITcon, Metrocon, Anime Festival Orlando, Yasumicon, and (the one out-of-state con I attend) Anime Weekend Atlanta. So, if I manage to make it to all of the above, that's six. Whether or not that happens largely depends on my workload.

I generally go to (in order):

Katsucon
JACON
Otakon
AWA
Anime USA

I've been known in the past to also go to:

Animazement
Neko-con
Anime Expo
A-kon

But the 5 up top are the ones I pretty much go to every year.
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

Animagic
Comic con

Wish list

Otakon

2003: Otakon (family (minus mother, plus Cyanna) went)
2004: AnimeNEXT (was in-state so I could day-trip there), Otakon (same as last year)

2005 (projected): AnimeNEXT (same as last year), Otakon?
I might consider AnimeBoston, except that it's the weekend before finals, and I KNOW it wouldn't be good for me to be out that weekend.

Yeah, me = poor college student.

(Cons I'm planning to send videos to: Sakura-Con, AnimeBoston, AnimeCentral, AnimeNEXT, FanimeCon?, Anime Expo?, Otakon, AWA, Nan Desu Kan... depending on how many videos I complete this year. :P )

Three on average.

Anime Expo - The clostest convention to me, the largest and my favorite.
Yaoi-con - I work there afterall
AWA - Second favorite con, the AMV presence is what got me there.

For the past few years, it's been
Katsucon
Animazement
Anime Mid-Atlantic
Anime Expo
Otakon
AWA
AnimeUSA
Nekocon

So that's eight. However, only seven in 2004, since AMA and Animazement were the same weekend. Nekocon kinda sucked last year, so I might not go again. Maybe I'll give Acen another shot, even though it sucked too a few years ago. Maybe I'll stop wasting my time at cons and actually make AMVs again. Maybe I'll make another Naruto/Linkin Pork video. EVERYONE loves them!
