Extract audio from DVD?

I want to extract the sound from a "rock 'n roll" music concert for an AMV.

does anyone know what program(s) there are that can extract the audio from either a DVD rip or an AVI/MPEG file?
Not asking for any illegal download links.i can get those myself lol
just asking for names of programs or possibly links to their site.

If I'm going to take sound from a dvd I usually use a program called DVD-DivX, disable footage and set the audio to rip as a wav file.
But if you don't have the program it's probably best to go with Scintilla's suggestion..
