favorite anime movie

Post by kittygirl776 » Sun Jan 09, 2005 12:23 am

My favorite anime movie would have to be Spirited Away. I also like KiKi's Delivery Service. I haven't seen any of the Inuyasha movies but when I do they will probably be my favorite.

My favorite is Millenium Actress. Satoshi Kon does an absolutely amazing job with the visual style that is presented along with that it's just a masterwork of storytelling.

Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture.

Forget fancy things like "plots" and "realistic body parts".

But in all seriousness, that's a tough question.

I'd say Versus, but as much as it is like anime, it's a live action film.

Okay, we have selected: Astroboy.

Adolecense of Utena: PURE EYE CANDY!!! Not to mention i am a rabid Utena worshipper.

Other excellent choices: Mononoke Hime (fantastic plot and direction), Ah! My Goddess(so pretty), Perfect Blue (brilliant thriller), and Tenchi Movies 1 and 3 (i am a big Tenchi fan, i LOVED tenchi's mother, and i LOVEDLOVEDLOVED that last shot in Tenchi Forever...soooo worth the wait) *^_^*

Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell II: Innocence.

I love them both dearly for how close they stay to their Gibsonian roots. The same questions that Gibson raises are also raised in both, and equally poignantly.

I just ordered it off eBay, and I cannot WAIT to see it on DVD...although even when I saw it by...errrm..."other means", it was still beautiful.

Either it, Akira, or Perfect Blue...it's so hard to choose just one of those.

Macross Plus The Movie - Short of flying itself, this film closely approximates the wonder and feeling of flight.

Macross The Movie - This alternate retelling of the original Macross saga has always been a favorite. The animation techniques still hold up to many features released in the past ten years.

The Adolecense of Utena - Another alternate retelling.. I just love these characters, but it is a great stand alone film in its own right. Love the car chase too.

Cowboy Bebop The Movie - Seeing this film after almost two years from the end of the series was like seeing an old friend. As wonderful as the series except with a bigger budget and a longer run time.

The End of Evangelion - The proper ending to a fantastic series. Answered most of my questions, but generated twice as many that I had before.[/b]
If it can't be expressed in numbers or figures, it is an opinion - Robert Heinlein

I agree. I'm not the biggest fan of the TV series, but seeing the movie in 35mm at AX was amazing. Sure, it doesn't make sense, but the imagery and the emotions evoked are excellent.
I have no idea how to use this new forum.
