Re: downloaded episodes
Through Virtual Dub: Cut only the parts you want to use but don't convert them to any codec. Just use "Direct stream copy". Afterwards use AVISynth for every clip you make. It's a lot of job I know, but it's the only way you can preserve the actual quality of the eps. you use.ashort wrote:im talking bout the legally downloaded ones. eg. ANBU's Naruto episodes.
Anyway. my question is this:
How would i go about editing these? I wanted to edit these directly in Premiere Pro using .avs files. I think the way these episodes are encoded may make it difficult to edit directly, but i dont want to convert all 114 episodes into huffyuv. It'll take too long...
Just thought u guys could help.

Well, that or converting to uncompressed or a lossless codec like HuffYUV, but of course that takes up a lot more hard drive space.bote wrote:Through Virtual Dub: Cut only the parts you want to use but don't convert them to any codec. Then again, if you do enough planing on the vid and know wihch sections your gona need, you shouldnt end up having more than about 10GB of huffyuv files.Scintilla wrote:Well, that or converting to uncompressed or a lossless codec like HuffYUV, but of course that takes up a lot more hard drive space.

Ok First of all Copywrite laws are international so unless your download from i think canada or germany(i heard one of them didnt have that law) its illegal, and secondly just because u pay 30$ a month doesnt mean its legal, if you going to download might as well get it for free.Scintilla wrote:Yes, they are. Fansubs are illegal because they involve redistribution of copyrighted anime without permission. End of story.

Apparently you didn't read the FAQ either.ashort wrote:doenst anybody read the FAQ. it says how they cease distribution once the anime has been licensed. therefore they are NOT illegal fansubs.
Nowhere in that FAQ did it say that fansubs are legal. This means that only the owner/creator has the right to reproduce (copy or distribute) any of their works. It also includes ‘derivative’ works which means, anything made from the original is also covered under this. Essentially this means that Fansubs, which are a derivative of the original work, cannot be distributed without the exclusive consent of the copyright owner.Copyright law wrote:17 USC Title 17 (U.S. Copyright Code)
17.1.106 (paraphrased): The owner of a copyright has the exclusive right to do and authorize the following:
1) Reproduce the work in copies
2) Prepare derivative works
"...the fair use of a copyrighted work, (...) for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright."
